Description
A great opportunity to buy an ORIGINAL copy of a VINYL LP from the 1970’s by Billy Cox's Nitro Function called "Nitro Function".
This is possibly one of the rarest Pye label records, as originally it sold in very small quantities. To find a FIRST PRESSING copy in this NEAR-MINT condition is an absolute must for any avid collector of early 1970's Progressive Rock music.
Billy Cox was a bass guitarist, who had worked as a backing musician during the 1960's, but was best known for performing with Jimi Hendrix, with whom he formed The Band Of Gypsys. He played with Hendrix at Woodstock in 1969 and was part of the re-formed Experience, along with Mitch Mitchell.
On this album, Cox pays tribute musically to Jimi Hendrix, with his musicians Robert Tarrant on drums and Char Vinnedge on guitar and vocals. The back cover of the album has a photo of Cox, Mitchell and Hendrix.
Made in England and released in 1971 on the Pye International label (NSPL 28158) (stereo), it has a total of 10 tracks:-
Side One: - Message; 42-70 (Peace); Touch Me; You Really Got Me; Portrait.
Side Two: - Powerhouse; You Got A Hold On Me; Play Your Own Blues; Not My Time; Let Me Do What I Want To Do.
The vinyl is in a lovely clean and shiny NEAR MINT condition. I always grade and examine records under a bright table lamp and there are a few light surface marks evident, some of which may well have been transit scuffs caused by the inner sleeve. These light surface marks are not serious and have no effect whatsoever on the terrific sound quality and it plays superbly. There is a very faint spindle mark on one label to indicate it has actually been played before I acquired it.
The labels are completely clean and free from any writing, marks or major defects.
The record is perfectly flat and has no warps of any description.
The matrix numbers are: - NSPL 28158A - 1 G (side one) and NSPL 28158B - 1 G (side two).
The record is housed in its original plain poly-lined die-cut inner sleeve in EXCELLENT condition.
The unlaminated picture cover is in an EXCELLENT condition. It was designed and drawn by ROGER DEAN. The edges and spine are very strong and the text on the spine is clearly readable. There is just some very very minor wear at the corners, but this should not detract from the terrific quality of this rare item.
Overall an exceptional example of this highly collectable 41 year old record and cover. There is no reserve on this item so please feel free to bid, but winning bidders - please pay promptly. Payment by PayPal is much preferred.
The pictures shown are of the actual item.
