Description
BlackSabbath - 'Black Sabbath' - 1970 first issue with gatefold sleeve, lyric printed in cross, 'Ossie'misspelling etc. Issued on the Vertigo swirl label - V 06 847 903 VTY
The black gatefold sleeve has a lyric printed on the cross - at end states 'Copyright subsists in all Stereo recordings. Any unauthorised broadcasting...' etc. Ozzie Osborne's name is mis-spelt 'Ossie'. Generally the sleeve is in reasonable condition - there is a little corner wear and one or two marks; generally clean however and the spine is not damaged although the print is a little faded; worst defect is an abrasion to the middle top edge of each of the inner sides of the gatefold where the sleeve must have stuck at some time - not really horrible however (see photo) and I will still grade as VG as there are no other major defects such as tears or splits.
The 'swirl' inner bag has some creasing and a couple of tears (again not horrendous) to one side emanating from the middle circle - there is also some age browning to the edges. Still just qualifies as VG I think.
The record itself has some marks the worst of which are a couple of more pronounced marks to the final track on side B. This does not result in horrible clicks however and the record generally plays quite acceptably and certainly in my view remains enjoyable to listen to. There is variable surface noise - worst at the beginnings of each side where it is noticeable and also in the quieter periods of the record - there are no skips or jumps however and as mentioned the quality overall is ok. I would describe the record as a good quality 'filler' until that elusive really nice copy can be found - I will grade overall as again VG.
