Description
Here is the Holy Grail for Black Sabbath Collectors - a very first UK pressing of the band's eponymous LP with the sought after Philips credit.
The rarely seen Philips credit on the label is proof of the very first issue of this disc whilst proof of a matching first issue sleeve can be found on the interior of the gatefold where the text states 'Copyright subsists in all stereo recordings' (on subsequent sleeves the text is corrected to '... Vertigo recordings'). Seasoned Sabbath fans may also be aware of a slight difference in the structure of the sleeve when handling any true first state gatefold).
The Vertigo disc is in strong VG condition and plays with great vibrancy, clarity and stereo separation, though there is a tiny mark at the start of the track Black Sabbath which results in a few light clicks during the sound effect of falling rain (and not during the music). There's no writing or rips on either label.
In summary a very presentable and playable copy of this ultra rare Sabbath classic.
Good luck if you are bidding - I carefully pack vinyl using professional packaging and with the disc removed from the sleeve to prevent knifing during transit.
