BLACK SABBATH DEBUT LP 1970 PRESSING 1Y/2Y PRESSING VERTIGO SWIRL OSSIE.
Condition is Used.
This is your chance to own the much sought after Black Sabbath debut LP, VO6 847 903 VTY 1Y 2Y first pressing with VERTIGO "swirl" and "A Philips record product" label.

This record has been kept in a cool dry cupboard and un-played for well over 40 years having been purchased by me in 1970 and then carried off to university and subsequent houses in a record box.
I have not played it, to check track quality, as I no longer have a respectable turntable fearing that one of today's modern USB record decks would act more like a plastic milling machine. My comments below are therefore based on a close visual inspection only. I have not cleaned the disc.
Disc:
Side A: The label has the Vertigo swirl, the label at the centre hole has some slight rubbing.
The disc has some potentially deeper scratches which may give rise to some clicking noise (see photo). There are a number of lighter scratches, some fingerprints and a few small dirt spots. The Matrix / Runout is stamped V O 6 2Y * 1 420 19 5
Side B: The label has the offset Vertigo swirl, the Side B track text listing has some possible rubbing of the printing for track 2 SLEEPING VILLAGE and track 3 WARNING (Dunbar). The label has the VERTIGO branding in outlined capitals with A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT writing underneath.
The Disc again has some light surface scratches, fingerprints and small dirt spots. The Matrix / Runout is stamped V O 6 1Y * 1 420 19 5

Sleeve:
The sleeve, which has the Vertigo swirl on both sides, is in reasonable condition with some discolouration, creasing and minor tears as expected with age. The film inner lining is intact but the glue attaching it to the paper outer is brown and discoloured but still doing its job. Sleeve printing shows "British Patent 800513 & 973939".
Cover:
The front cover has the Vertigo Swirl and VERTIGO logo in the top right corner, the rear cover is marked VO 6 847 903 VTY again in the top right corner. There is some slight rubbing to the spine, minimal wear to the top edges and slightly more (but still minimal given age) wear to bottom edges and corners where the record has been slid into the storage box. The inner gatefold has evidence of grease from thumbs on both sides at ~ 10cm from the fold from holding record cover. The cardboard is smooth, clean and "crisp" with no creases or bowing and all glued seams and joints in good condition. The cover has the OSSIE OSBORNE mis-spelling and the ROGER BAIN / TONY ALLOM credits in capitals as expected for first pressings.
Please inspect the photographs carefully.
For shipping I will place the record in plastic wrapping and pack in double stiff corrugated packaging.
