THIS IS the fifth and perhaps mots adventurous Black Sabbath studio album. The material is far more diverse than their earlier bludgeon, easing off the heaviousity gass pedal a tad in favour of more texture and more variety. But that's not to say that they wimped out. Tracks such as 'Killing Yourself To Live', 'A National Acrobat', 'Sabra Cadabra' and the title track all pay a healthy disrespect for restraint and subtlety. A truly great album and perhaps the only Sabbath album still constantly revealing itself after all these years.
This copy is the first issue silver WWA label logo which was quickly superceeded by the second issue on the NEMS label. These are tough to find and even harder in such nice condition. The cover is fabulous with the correct thin horizontal black border on the inside of the gate fold and no printer credit on the rear panel, the correct flip back inner sleeve with the hand stamped serial number and Rick Wakeman keyboard credit on 'Sabbra Cadabra'.
This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
Pressing: WWA, UK, 1973
Vinyl: Lovely clean and shiny condition. Nice glossy surface with no scuffs, no spindle marks on label and no other signs of use. Displays a few microsopic scuffs under a bright light from sliding in and out of the inner sleeve. Grades as top MINT-!
Cover: Virtually no signs of use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated gatefold cover - pretty much unblemished. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Rear panel is pristine white - unmarked. Grades as MINT-!
