Description

FROM A TERRIFIC SOLO SESSION FOR DECCA in 1938, here is SIDNEY "POPS" BECHET, blowing soprano sax for all he's worth, with NOBLE SISSLE'S SWINGSTERS.  


"BLACKSTICK" and "SOUTHERN SUNSET" are both Bechet compositions, well laid-out and immaculately performed.  Bechet was a genius, one of the greatest New Orleanians, and personally, I'm glad that Noble Sissle saw this and gave him due recognition.   


This original 1938 French Decca 60307 is in very clean E condition.  AND pressed on better shellac, with quieter surfaces, than its American equivalent.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care.
