Is there a visual side to record collecting? No, definitely not - it's all about the music, surely. Gatefold sleeves and all that - they're not what they're cracked up to be. Take this example: Blonde on Blonde's 'Rebirth' from 1970. Pretentious rubbish, n'est pas? I mean, what's the progressive Welsh quartet doing on this cover ... walking out of the womb? Oh, I see, yes, I get it - changed personnel and a new approach, some 18 months after their Contrasts debut. Rebirth, of course. Silly me! Absolutely, yes, you're so right - another prime contender for a Shingdig feature. What a bloody fool I've been. Anyway, here's a rare example of this difficult-to-find Blonde on Blonde release. "Some scorching guitar tones dotted throughout", "driving psychedelia" plus a "12-minute acid rock epic" - Galactic Ramble. It's a solid VG copy, with evidence of a moderate amount of play on the textured Ember labels, and just a few light marks showing up on the vinyl when examined under strong halogen lighting. The gatefold sleeve is also in VG condition. In fact it's rather like the Fields sleeve I am listing, with its single card front flap and record pouch, though this isn't as good, condition-wise. In this case there is a line of colour loss/staining across the top of the gatefold (see photos) and some loss of text along the spine but there are no nasty rips or sticker tears or colouring in of any kind and no writing, so all in all not a bad gatefold sleeve at all.
