Highly collectable original 1971 UK 1st pressing LP from this legendary late 60s early 70s UK psych / prog band. Very rare psych / prog album. Lovely UK original of this great album. Gatefold sleeve. This is a superb original lp record that deserves to be in any serious 70's prog / psych rock collection.

(A beautiful gleaming barely played vinyl with deep shine, test played with great sound quality. This 1971 UK first pressing still retains its full gloss and sheen showing only a few very faint wispy hairlines seen under strong light. The record delivers excellent audio throughout with great powerful sound clarity and only occasional minor static. A fabulous original UK 1st pressing of this excellent prog rock LP)

Gatefold Sleeve: VG+ near EX

(The original 'Garrod & Lofthouse' unlaminated matt sleeve has been well preserved since the day it was bought nearly 40 years ago! There are a few light marks and small creases near the bottom corners and edges, with a little shelfwear on the top and bottom seams, nothing too serious. The spine is perfectly legible and clear with just a few tiny scuffs. The white rear is very slightly discolored. Overall the sleeve is in solid near excellent condition, colour and structure are very nice indeed, one of the best examples I have seen on account of its fragile unlaminated matt finish)

1971 UK original 1st pressing issue of extremely hard to find album by legendary UK 60s/70s psych/prog band Blonde On Blonde

On offer here, from my own collection, is an excellent condition original UK 1st pressing of Blonde On Blonde's very rare 3rd album "Reflections On A Life", issued on the UK 1st press Ember Records label. Very rare UK prog LP on Ember 1971 1st UK press in the original non-laminated gatefold sleeve.

This record seldom comes up for sale and even less so in this condition. Dont miss your chance!!

The final incarnation of BLONDE ON BLONDE recorded October 1971's "Reflections On A Life" album at Monmouth's Rockfield Studios. "Reflections" goes the furthest in thematic contrasts, having their most experimental sounding moments in SYD BARRETT resembling alienation and madness in it, coupled with straight boogie parts and beautiful melodic patterns. Third album from 1971 by this highly regarded but woefully ignored fine UK progressive band. Elements of Moody Blues or Barclay James Harvest could be gleaned from this album, but it's their own distinctive sound that shines through with those unique wavering vocals. A lost classic.

"Reflections On a Life" was recorded in the wake of another personnel shakeup that saw original guitarist Richard/John Hopkins replaced by singer/multi-instrumentalist Graham Davies. With drummer Les Hicks and guitarist Gareth Johnson sharing production responsibilities. The album's opening track begins with crying babies, backward tapes, bizarre sound effects and ominous vocal treatments, the Gareth Johnson penned 'Gene Machine' is possibly the wildest thing the band ever recorded. With Johnson, Dave Thomas and Graham Davies splitting songwriting chores tracks like 'Love Song' and 'Bar Room Blues' found the band exploring a modest folk-rock orientation, while 'I Don't Care' and 'The Bargain' pursued a more conventional prog rock sound. The performances were never less than sterling and the band excel at injecting interesting touches throughout the album (check out the Eastern influences that crop up at the end of 'Ain't It Sad Too'), making the entire album worth hearing. Propelled by a killer lead guitar 'Sad Song for An Easy Lady' and the pretty ballads 'The Bargain' (which I could swear I've heard elsewhere) and 'Chorale (Forever)' made for the album's standout performances.

This excellent album is a 'MUST HAVE' for 70s prog rock afficionados.

MINT (M): The record / cd displays barely any signs of use, if any, with no marks or deterioration in sound quality. Extra items and cover are near perfect.

EXCELLENT (EX): Shows only minor signs of being played with very little lessening in sound quality. The Cover and extras will have some light wear and or creasing

VERY GOOD (VG): Has been played many times but has no major deterioration in sound quality, despite some noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Cover and extras will have normal wear and tear but no major defects

GOOD (G): Has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and any extras may suffer from folding, scuffing, split spine, discoloration etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable and has considerable surface noise and may even jump. Cover and contents will be torn stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly. Covers badly damaged or partly missing
