Another from my personal collection! One of my all time favorites, Dylan's second album released in 1963 Arguably one of the rarest Bob Dylan albums to ever find earliest ever 1st UK pressing and in original ((mono))! Unbelievably genuine 51 years old and lovely looking mega thick 1st issue heavy vinyl, what makes this so rare is that this is the 1st UK original almost twice as thick than later press features 33 instead of 331/3 on later pressings. I have owned these originals from new!

Please note! I will be featuring all of the earliest Mono original Dylan albums soon! All of these that I will be listing will be the original earliest mono pressings! Just listen to the audio quality. Near mint on my systems. I don't think you could get a better sounding vinyl. Absolutely crystal clear and very vibrant throughout with light isolated static ticks heard only, no loud constant annoying clicks or pops. Unbelievable rare absolutely stunning Audio archive copy and looks barely ever played at all in my opinion!

Please do not under estemate the rarety of this earliest and most sought after (((mono))) original 1st UK pressing! Much more sought after and collectable than the more common stereo pressing! rarely ever seen like this in this awesome condition!

 The vinyl has always been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover for protection the way that i have always stored my records! I have play tested the album three times, prior to this listing at very loud volume, on a top system, using a dedicated mono cartridge. This audio is almost as good as it gets on any available format in my opinion! Please note! This can not be surpassed by any stereo format! IN MY OPINION THIS IS HOW IT WAS MEANT TO BE HEARD, CRISP CLEAR AND VIBRANT, Don't take my word for it, listen to the complete album recorded direct from the vinyl in the player! This original mono pressing is stunning absolutely real rich and vibrant clarity totally stunning on my systems! The 1st issue laminated front only cover features flipback rear and printed in England, only found like this on first issues, graded at least excellent  super glossy laminate  The rear is exceptionally clean and white. (normally seen very grubby with time) A real collectors copy for any true Dylan audiophiles out there!

The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on May 27, 1963 by Columbia Records. Whereas his debut album Bob Dylan had contained only two original songs, Freewheelin' represented the beginning of Dylan's writing contemporary words to traditional melodies. Eleven of the thirteen songs on the album are Dylan's original compositions. The album opens with "Blowin' in the Wind", which became an anthem of the 1960s, and an international hit for folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary soon after the release of Freewheelin'. The album featured several other songs which came to be regarded as amongst Dylan's best compositions and classics of the 1960s folk scene: "Girl from the North Country", "Masters of War", "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall" and "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right".

Dylan's lyrics embraced stories taken from the headlines about civil rights and he articulated anxieties about the fear of nuclear warfare. Balancing this political material were love songs, sometimes bitter and accusatory, and material that features surreal humor. Freewheelin' showcased Dylan's songwriting talent for the first time, propelling him to national and international fame. The success of the album and Dylan's subsequent recognition led to his being named as "Spokesman of a Generation", a label Dylan came to resent.

Neither critics nor the public took much notice of Dylan's debut album, Bob Dylan, which sold only 5,000 copies in its first year, just enough to break even. In a pointed rebuke to John Hammond, who had signed Dylan to Columbia Records, some within the company referred to the singer as "Hammond's Folly" and suggested dropping his contract. Hammond defended Dylan vigorously and was determined that Dylan's second album should be a success. The recording of Freewheelin' took place from April 1962 to April 1963, and the album was assembled from eight recording sessions in the Columbia Records Studio A, 799 Seventh Avenue, in New York City

Many critics have noted the extraordinary development of Dylan's songwriting immediately after completing his first album. Dylan biographer Clinton Heylin connects the sudden increase in lyrics written along topical and political lines to the fact that Dylan had moved into an apartment on West 4th Street with his girlfriend Suze Rotolo in January 1962. Rotolo's family had strong left-wing political commitments; both of her parents were members of the American Communist Party. Dylan acknowledged her influence when he told an interviewer: "Suze was into this equality-freedom thing long before I was. I checked out the songs with her."

Dylan's relationship with Rotolo also provided an important emotional dynamic in the composition of the Freewheelin' album. After six months of living with Dylan, Rotolo agreed to her mother's proposal that she travel to Italy to study art. Dylan missed her and wrote long letters to her conveying his hope that she would return soon to New York. She postponed her return several times, finally coming back in January 1963. Critics have connected the intense love songs expressing longing and loss on Freewheelin' to Dylan’s fraught relationship with Rotolo. In her autobiography, Rotolo explains that musicians' girlfriends were routinely described as "chicks", and she resented being regarded as "a possession of Bob, who was the center of attention".

The tremendous speed and facility with which Dylan wrote topical songs attracted the attention of other musicians in the New York folk scene. In a radio interview on WBAI in June 1962, Pete Seeger described Dylan as "the most prolific songwriter on the scene" and then asked Dylan how many songs he had written recently. Dylan replied, "I might go for two weeks without writing these songs. I write a lot of stuff. In fact, I wrote five songs last night but I gave all the papers away in some place called the Bitter End."] Dylan also expressed the impersonal idea that the songs were not his own creation. In an interview with Sing Out! magazine, Dylan said, "The songs are there. They exist all by themselves just waiting for someone to write them down. I just put them down on paper. If I didn't do it, somebody else would."

The album cover features a photograph of Dylan with Suze Rotolo. It was taken in February 1963—a few weeks after Rotolo had returned from Italy—by CBS staff photographer Don Hunstein at the corner of Jones Street and West 4th Street in the West Village, New York City, close to the apartment where the couple lived at the time. The Vinyl

This is the original earliest thick and chunky type of vinyl with deeper grooves (only found like this on the original 1st UK pressings) The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping!

On initial inspection the vinyl looks like lovely and it is hard to see a blemish on the playing surface! It is quite obvious that this vinyl has only been played a minimal amount of times ever the playing surface is truly stunning visually in my opinion! Only in strong light could possibly any sleeve removal /feint scuff marks/light scratches could possibly be seen only (Importantly, nothing that would cause any loud annoying clicks or pops during the audio)

The Audio Quality

I have played this vinyl track for track three times prior to this listing, at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge! The audio is very near as good as it gets in any format in my personal opinion absolutely stunning clarity on my systems! cristal clear and very very vibrant indeed! Please note! I also own a copy of the 1st press stereo edition of this album and there is no comparison in my opinion! (((MONO)) this is the only way to hear this album! Certainly the most sought after and incredibly rare to ever find in this awesome top top condition and one of the earliest pressings that I have seen! The audio is graded at least excellent to excellent plus (light isolated static ticks heard only at loud volume) One of the best for vibrancy that you will ever find in my opinion! Please do not under estemate the rarety of this album like this!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd isolated light static ticks\crackle (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 51 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 51 year old system! IN MY OPINION THIS PLAYS THROUGH STUNNINGLY CLEAR VIBRANT ON MY SYSTEMS! (Isolated static ticks that I noticed during digital playback I never noticed during analogue playback with a mono cartridge)

Points to note! This has been stored in a case for over 45 years and a build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static ticks\crackle! A constant clean before each play is highly recommended! This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!

The Labels

These are the 1st issue CBS (TEXTURED ) mono labels! These are awesome! Please note! only 1st issue labels feature ''33'' on the labels (later issues feature 331/3) and only 1st issue labels are textured! Only if angled to the light can any spindle marks possibly be seen! This has obviously been played but not overplayed in my opinion very minimal play only. There is little if no spindle ware the hole is perfectly round! This vinyl has had only very minimal play only, and only played by me from new!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original plain white sleeve with patent no. Nice article becoming fraging with age The record is now always stored separately from the sleeve and cover.

The cover

This is the 1st issue  flipback cover! laminated front only! Absolutely stunning super super glossy appearance! Any creases are minor and at the edges in the laminate only to mention not really nothing too bad in my opinion! Any marks or indents are barely noticable unless looked for angled to the light where someone has leant on the cover when writing at some point in time.! No splits or tares and any rubbing is minimal indeed. The rear is exceptionally clean and bright any yellowing spots are barely noticed and creases are slight one small crease at bottom left to mention! This top copy must grade at least excellent if not better in my opinion!

This is the best sounding copy that you will ever find beleive me and the rarest and most sought after with unbeleivable top mono audio! An audio archive copy!,, you will never need to upgrade from this album and original ((mono)) the rarest to ever find Near mint audio!
