Description
BOB DYLAN – LIKE A ROLLING STONE (Part I / Part II) - Columbia RED VINYL WHITE LABEL PROMO JZSP 110939/110940 (U.S. 45 rpm Mono). Disc is Near Mint Plus; Labels are Near Mint Minus (radio station date stamping & DJ initials) .
This is the Split Timing Promo Version of Like A Rolling Stone, PRESSED ON RED VINYL WITH A WHITE PROMO LABEL, timed at 3:02 for each side. Both sides combined feature the full 6 minute version with fade out/fade ins applied to each side. Thinking that no radio station would ever play a 6 minute song in its entirely in 1965, Columbia Records’ Promotional Department elected to offer DJs this split version should they elect to play same in truncated fashion. It backfired and radio stations did indeed play the full 6 minute version which was also released as a White Label Promo. This split timing version is rare for that reason and also because it is pressed on Red Vinyl. Additionally, some collectors seek out copies date stamped by the radio station, in this case the date noted being “Aug 18 ’65.” [Due to their faster turning speed and wider groove spread, 45 rpm pressings exhibit better overall playback than LP pressings, which turn slower and feature more compacted groove spread.] For more information on this classic disc visit: http://www.searchingforagem.com/1960s/MonoSingles1960s_2Rolling.htm.
All vinyl records from VinylKing46 (eBay’s ORIGINAL VINYLKING) are pre-cleaned and inserted into paper inner sleeves before mailing to Buyer (unless factory sealed). Discs are packaged separately from sleeves to protect against seam splitting. Sleeves are inserted into mylar outer sleeves and both disc and sleeve are shipped in 7” EP/45-specific boxes and packed with bubble wrap or hard cardboard.
I grade conservatively and by Goldmine standards.
