Description
"Love, Serve, Remember" is a six stereo custom label Lp boxed set of spiritual teachings and songs from 1973. The contents are listed below. This set is an acid/hippe smorgasbord that consists of phone calls of Dass giving listeners advice (recorded at WBAI in NYC), Ram Dass reading from the Third Chinese Patriarch of Zen, The Gospel According to John, the Ramayana, and music. The booklet is included. The box is well-preserved, corners have been mended with professional tape. No names, writing or smell. The records look to be unplayed or minimally played.
Ram Dass (Richard Alpert) is well-known as an early explorer of human consciousness, and who, in collaboration with Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner, Aldous Huxley and Allen Ginsbert researched (if that is the correct term) LSD-25. He co-authored two influential books: The Psychedelic Experience (with Leary and Metzner, and based on The Tibetan Book of the Dead, published by University Books); and LSD (with Sidney Cohen and Lawrence Schiller, published by New American Library). Before his chemical explorations, Alpert Ram Dass specialized in human motivation and personality development at Stanford, Univ of Calif., and Harvard University. He was dismissed from Harvard in 1963. Later on, he traveled to India, met his guru and founded the Hanuman Foundation, the Love Serve Remember Foundation, the Seva Foundation and served on the Metta Institute.
