Carlos Barberia ranks in the all-time great Cuban bandleaders both in Cuba and NYC but is greatly overlooked and almost forgotten. A fine bassist, composer, arranger and conductor who always had top shelf soneros in his bands, In the 1970s he created the short-lived ritmo chévere. He successfully led his Kubavana bands in Havana and New York, always playing a variety of great dance music.
Banda Kubavana de Carlos Barberia: Raul Planas "Que Tienes Titina" Panart Records LP-2063 High Fidelity 1957 recording 1977 reissue towards the end of the original Sabat family ownership. This session features the amazing sonero Raul Planas at the beginning of his career, he later went on to be the very popular voice of Conjunto Rumbavana who continued in Cuba when Barberia left for NY around 1960. Vinyl: mint minus   no spindle wear I repeat my text from Condition Description above: record is in near mint condition, around 1990 I had one of those magical moments record collectors hope for. While visiting my mother's childhood friend beauty supplies shop in Miami, while they chatted I walked to the back to use the bathroom and saw a rack of LPs--mostly Panart, dime novels and magazines, they were leftovers from when her late hubby sold gifts in the store. I made a great deal to buy about 15 still sealed 1970s reissues of pre-1959 Cuban music. I played them 1 time to record,  and then put them away in my collection where they've  been stored for over 25 years. A very hard-to-find LP.

LP jacket has no seam separation, top, side and bottom edges have some visible wear. Front cover shows some ring wear on top and bottom. Back cover also has some rub wear at top and bottom.  photos seen were taken with my cell camera, not the highest resolution, it's actual LP
