I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

Collectors know that this series was released for the Christmas season of 1965 only.  These singles were issued in concert with The Early Beatles LP, once Capitol Records had finally secured ownership of the Vee Jay master tapes.

Released almost exactly one year after the October 15, 1964 cease-and-desist ruling for Vee Jay to stop pressing Beatles records, Capitol ordered these singles withdrawn and destroyed at the end of December, 1965. They have never been in print since.

This is the 60th anniversary of this issue, and it’s in gorgeous Excellent condition.

Vinyl: NM/EX.  Side 1 looks very nearly unplayed, full 100% shine.  Side 2 has some very light scratches that can’t be felt with the fingertip, and only concentrated in one small area.  See photo.

Plates: T2/T2.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Labels: VG+/VG+.  Very nice semi-gloss labels have light dirtwear.  Side 1 label has a little sticker on it.

Sleeve: EX.  Original blue and white Starline “The Brightest Stars” sleeve is present.  As these sleeves were to house a budget series, they have a crinkly texture and they yellow and split very easily with time.  Not this one.  Had it not been for a few light creases, this sleeve would have graded NM.  NO SEAM SPLITS.  It still crinkles just fine, though.

This one’s your keeper, no doubt about that.

**Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.**

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
