Beatles 45 1967 Hello Goodbye First Pressing RAREST LA Font, EX!

I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

Far rarer than the green label promo. How many of those have you seen, as compared to how many of these?

Pretty much every collector out there assumes that the font that’s found on the 1970 Apple with black star reissues of the 45’s catalogue was the first appearance of that style of lettering.  But going back as far as 1967, this single was the first appearance.  (The subsequent pressings on the red/orange target and dome labels were straight transfers from this label!)

You can see that if you reduce the size of the font and compress the letters closer together, you have the font style that all Beatles reissued Apple 45’s of their earlier catalogue used from 1970 to the end of 1975.

This copy is a delicious EX.  And you’re not likely to see another one this nice during your lifetime, even if you’re 11 years old today.

Vinyl: EX/EX.  Both sides are really just a tic from a NM grading.  Each side has one or two extremely light and short angel hairs too fine to photograph in a sea of high gloss.

Plates: G2/F5.  Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.

Labels: NM/NM.  Full gloss, bold colors, these labels look like they were just printed this morning, rather than in 1967.

Side 1 is credited to the rarer publisher, “Comet Music,” rather than to “Maclen Music.”

Side 2 label has a very cool double-printed error!

Sleeve: EX.  Slight browning from the years.  NO SEAM SPLITS.

Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.

Investor-grade copy of this impossible label variation.  I hate to sell it!  Be sure to have a look at the only other title in the swirl catalogue with this font style, “Lady Madonna,” also for sale this week.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
