Summary:

’The Beatles Sixth Christmas Record’, was distributed FREE to existing members of The Official UK Beatles Fan Club in December 1968.

This is an IMMACULATE example, with both the Disc and Picture Sleeve in BEAUTIFULLY PRESERVED CONDITION, and if that’s not enough ENHANCING the INVESTMENT POTENTIAL further is that it comes COMPLETE with its RARE Original Double Sided SUPERPIX ADVERT, and is STILL PROTECTED IN ITS ORIGINAL OUTER MAILING ENVELOPE with the Postal Authorities date stamp, confirming that it was mailed out on ’21 Dec 1968’.

Detailed Description:

Unlike all the previous Beatles Xmas Flexi Discs, which were printed with paper record labels, the 1968 and 1969 label information was printed on the actual black Flexi disc. The label print on both these disc are usually prone to fading, BUT NOT THIS ONE, as you will see from the scans provided, the label text is as CLEAR AS THE DAY IT WAS PRINTED. In addition both the 1968 and 1969 Flexi discs are the only two which are DOUBLE SIDED discs, while all the other flexis were single sided. The Flexi plays at 33 1/3rd rpm.

This Beatles Xmas message was recorded in November 1968 at the lush London homes of Beatle John and Beatle Paul, and in the back of Beatle Ringo's diesel-powered removal van, somewhere in Surrey, The voice of Beatle George is heard because yours faithfully, the G.P.O., did something right and joined up 6,000 miles of telephone links at an appropriate moment. Additional material was recorded earlier in the elegant Esher home of Beatle George during rehearsal sessions for "The Beatles" LP album set.

Stamped Matrix:

The official stamped matrixs in the trail out grooves read LYN 1743-1L and side 2: LYN 1744-1L.

The Disc is protected in an absolutely IMMACULATE, ORIGINAL Psychedelic card Picture Sleeve, with two fold over flip backs to the top and bottom of the reverse of the sleeve.

….And comes with its RARE and Original Glossy Paper, DOUBLE SIDED, SUPERPIX SALES SERVICE ORDER FORM, advertising sets of Beatles photographs available to order through The Beatles Official Fan Club. The front of the Superpix Order form features six black and white photos and the reverse features other photographs in the collection. Additionally, the insert incorporates an order form to enable Fan Club Members to select and order their preference. (Please note that this 1968 Flexi Disc was NEVER issued with a Newsletter, instead some came with the Superpix Order Form).

The Disc is still protected in its Original Brown Outer Mailing Envelope, in which the 1968 Flexi was mailed out in, back in December 1968. The outer mailing envelope displays a Postal authorities stamp reading ‘London, S.W.1, Gt Britain’ (from where it was mailed) together with a mailing date of ‘21 Dec 1968’.

Condition:

The Custom ‘Beatles Fan Club’ record label is IMMACULATE, and in mint condition – This is a STUNNING, NEW LOOKING Printed label – the label on this disc is usually extremely prone to fading , BUT NOT THIS ONE. NONE of the text on this example has faded – this is very very unusual.

Both sides of the Original 7" Flexi Disc playing surfaces are in PERFECTLY FLAT mint condition – LOOKS TO BE UNPLAYED!

The Original card Picture sleeve is truly IMMACULATE and, without question, the BEST we have offered, in mint condition – It’s STUNNING and looks like it has just been manufactured. Just look at the detailed scans provided, the sleeve is so FLAT, FIRM and CLEAN, and has obviously been carefully preserved from light and pollutants over the years, stored in its Original Outer Mailing Envelope, with NO fading to the the psychedelic image to the front, and NO fading to the printed text to the reverse. There is NO discoloration, NO age spotting, NO creasing, NO tearing, NO handwriting, NO corner bumps, NO edge splitting to any part - FANTASTIC!

The Original DOUBLE SIDED Superpix Advert is a BEAUTIFUL example in mint condition, NO tearing NO creasing, NO handwriting, NO imperfections.

The Original Brown Mailing Envelope (in which this 1968 disc was sent to the Fan Club Member back in December 1968) is VERY RESPECTABLE, showing some tearing to the top opening edge of the envelope and some pieces of paper missing from the opening flap. It clearly shows the Fan Club members printed address. There is a Red ‘Records Do Not Bend’ printed stamp to the front and to the opening flap on the reverse of the mailing envelope. The Postal authorities date stamp of ‘21 Dec 1968’is clearly printed. Please note it is considered VERY RARE for these Original Mailing envelopes to survive - most were thrown away at the time after the Fan Club member had received the disc.
