THE BEATLES - 'A HARD DAY'S NIGHT'
This top-sounding UK 1st MONO pressing dates from initial July 1964 release on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1230
Both labels bear the 'Sold in UK...' text with 'The Parlophone Co...' worded rims
The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 2 centre hole
Earliest matrix numbers: XEX 481-3N & XEX 482-3N
Stamper codes: 2/HP & 1/O
Vinyl weight: 147g
Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover & rice-paper lined inner-sleeve
This copy also comes with an original clear poly outer-cover from Brian Epstein's 'NEMS' Liverpool record store

Labels: EXCELLENT
Both of these early-design labels are clean with minimal wear around each centre hole
Visual: EXCELLENT
Wonderfully clean deep-gloss playing surfaces on this well looked-after disc. Strong daylight highlights a single light 1cm mark on side 1 and 2/3 lighter scuffs on side 2, but nothing I would call a 'scratch'. Close examination beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp can reveal no other visual faults or wear whatsoever.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +
An outstanding sounding disc which has received only careful play on quality equipment. The sound is clean, warm and unworn throughout. Apart from a hint of low-level vinyl background between tracks, it is flawless.
Cover: EXCELLENT
A highly respectable example to this great sounding disc which is clean, strong & free from any significant wear
The richly-toned front panel is extremely clean and retains all of its high-gloss finish with just a few light wrinkles along its lower edge but no 'thumbnails' or other significant faults. There is bruising to the lower right and upper right corners but both opening edges are clean & undamaged. The exposed rear panel is very clean bearing only a handful of tiny age-spots.
Both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is fully laminated & worded
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean & crisp with slight toning but no writing, tears or seam splits
