Genuine 1964 Stereo Version II issue of Vee-Jay’s Introducing The Beatles LP - a complicated piece, with all its variations, sub-variations, etc. So please read all details below and check out all the pics as well.
1) VARIATION ID:
The details below are from Bruce Spizer’s 1998 reference work, The Beatles Records On Vee-Jay (print edition), with page numbers listed.
Label/LP Variation: VJ 1062(2).SR4B (Description, p.135 / Photos, p.144)
Labels:
- All black label, silver print, VJ, VEE JAY RECORDS, No “Long Playing” or “Microgroove”
- “STEREO” at 9 o’clock, in small thin print
- “SIDE 1” in upper case / “Side 2” in upper & lower case
- Label has a circular indention 5/8” from its outer edge
LP Trail-off area:
- “MR” in circle on both sides
- “URJ” hand-etched on both sides
- Side 1 - hand-etched Matrix #S 63-3402-STEREO / Job # ∆6313
- Side 2 - Matrix #S 63-3403-STEREO / Job # ∆6313X

2) VINYL CONDITION:Conservatively, I’m grading it Very Good (VG) - please read the full description below, so there won’t be any surprises or disappointments.
Like many (most?) pieces of used vinyl, it looks really nice (easily VG+) under normal overhead room lighting - a few visible scratches, none of them deep. Under the direct light of a table lamp, both sides show numerous light scuffs and scratches.
The vinyl still has some luster, although it would benefit from a proper professional-grade cleaning.
I decided to play grade this one. Other than a few minimal, isolated clicks and pops here and there, both sides played great.
LABELS: No writing, some spindle marks.
3) COVER CONDITION:
OVERALL: No creases or bends. The front and back are both beautiful - the flaws are on the edges/spines, as described below.
FRONT: Still glossy, no fading. Minimal wear, very minor and isolated. Note in the pics, Paul’s left arm (bottom center); Ringo’s right arm and torso; John’s shoulders and chair.
STICKER: The “STEREOPHONIC” sticker is intact and glossy, with minor wear. Looking closely under direct light, you can see “4.98” hand-etched (no ink) on the upper right corner of the label.
BACK: Still retains its semi-gloss, with no visible yellowing . No wear, no stains, no writing, .
TOP EDGE: Tiny (1/16”) area of cardboard exposed on the left, and a 1 1/4” seam split on the right.
BOTTOM EDGE: 1/4” area of cardboard exposed on the left. and a 1 1/2” seam split on the right. There’s a straight white line of wear that pretty much runs along the entire bottom edge (because the bottom of the front cover slick wasn’t folded/wrapped/glued tightly enough around the cardboard cover).
LEFT SPINE: Both the top and bottom have a 1” area of wear. No splits.
