THE BEATLES - 'A HARD DAY'S NIGHT'

This superb early UK 1st MONO pressing of the soundtrack of the same name dates from the album's 1st release in July 1964 and is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1230

Both labels bear the 'chubby' style font found only on initial pressings and include the 'Sold in UK..' text with 'the Parlophone Co..' worded rim texts.

The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 2 label.

Disc weight: 169g

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover with the mid-sized 'mono' front indicator.

Complete with its original 'Use Emitex..' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

A clean & bright set with some faint spindle marks around each centre hole but otherwise clean & unblemished.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Immaculate deep-gloss playing surface which are entirely free from any surface marks in strong daylight. There is a little whitening to the groove visible in a certain light but that's all - even close examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp could find any noticeable surface marks or wear. Both sides of this high-quality, heavy pressing lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This outstanding copy has received minimal, extremely careful play and as a result the sound is clean, warm & full throughout. Apart from slight peakwear on the last track on each side, my single play-check at volume found no deterioration to the sound quality or any background interference, clicks, pops or other such distraction on or between any of these explosive tracks.

Cover: EXCELLENT +

A superb example which retains a clean high-gloss front laminate where the only trace of wear is a single tiny 'thumbnail' on the last of John's portraits. There is a a hint of shelfwear to the lower corners but no bumps or bruising to any. There are also a few tiny 'pushes' to the front opening edge but nothing at all on the rear edge. The rear panel itself is pristine white with just literally one or two of the faintest age spots but definitely no writing or missing paper anywhere. All flipbacks are fully intact and both seams and the spine are all smooth, unstressed and unworn. Tough to find better.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +

Clean, white & crisp with just a small ink smudge on one side but apart from that, this is as good as they come.
