READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles LP 1969 Rubber Soul Record Club Green Label Refreshed A1/A1 plates, EX/NM!

Definitely among the tough titles to find from the Capitol Record Club, this copy is going to be someone’s keeper!

Only SOME copies of SOME Record Club titles had refreshed plates, meaning that new ones were drawn up to press from.  These A1 plates have far better sound quality than the older plates. 

This is one of those refreshed plate copies!

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  Most sellers would grade this copy as an easy NM.  But if you scrutinize the sides with a decent light source, you can find very light lines that weren’t there at the factory.  So I’m not going to call it NM.  It’s a strong EX.

Plates--- A1/A1.

Cover--- EX.  Highly unusual! 

Collectors well know that Record Club covers were constructed from what amounts to recycled newspaper.  Cardboard on these covers split just from being stared at by your cat.

Record Club covers have the three diagonal stripes on the top left corner of the front, and the back right corner on the top.   They also include the extra numeral “8” on the spine and top right corner of the back cover.  All that is present on this cover.

This cover is beautiful.  Colors are bold and fresh.  Ringo has some fuzz in his hair that none of the others bothered to mention.  Back cover has a very light browning down the mouth, very light dulling otherwise.

Please take good care of this cover.  Record Club covers in this condition are few and very far between!

Labels--- NM/NM.  Catalogue number is missing the dashes.  Both labels look like they were printed this morning.  Full 100% gloss.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX.  Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Light wrinkles, uniformly yellowed.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
