The Beatles –Help!– Genuine 1965 UK 1st mono pressing on the yellow & black Parlophone label with ‘Sold in UK…’ label text, catalogue number PMC 1255. Dating to the original release date of 6th August 1965.
An incredibly well preserved copy with outstanding audio. Side one has been played only 3 or 4 times, side two has been played maybe twice.
Matrix numbers: XEX 549-2 & XEX 550-2 (Please note –1 was not used on any mono 1st press Help! issue)

Visual: MINT-
A beautifully preserved unmarked copy and virtually flawless. On close examination under a halogen desklight there are some faint whispy sleeve removal marks. Pristine vinyl and just short of an all out MINT grade. The vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Labels: EXC+to MINT-
A superb set of fresh labels with evidence that the record has hardly been played at all. There is no writing or personlisation to any label. Side on carries the KT tax code.
Audio: EXC+to MINT-
A stunning sounding copy with little to no surface noise audible between tracks and no distortion or groovewear to any of the music signals.The initial burst of Help! followed by the amazingly clear and clean sound of The Night Before, then onto You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away; only three tracks into this record and it’s game set and match. Then of course there is the brilliant Another Girl, another clean sounding track (a sound George Martin was beginning to perfect and which would later surface on productions of Hello Goodbye and Your Mother Should Know), then there is Ticket to Ride. Side one grades at or around MINT.
Onto side two; there is the beautiful It’s Only Love, I’ve Just Seen a Face and the classic Yesterday. Side two plays much the same as side one and grades between EXC+ to MINT- but having said that most tracks grade at MINT; the music is distortion free and once again there is no wear to any of the music signals, I did however detect some surface noise between some tracks when played at high volume. The easily damaged and inner most track Dizzy Miss Lizzy plays superbly and grades at mint and the track Yesterday also plays superbly without any noticeable distraction.
In a way the album Help! captures the vitality and energy of the Beatles like no other; Help! is never really spoken about as being a Beatles masterpiece but a masterpiece it is and this particular copy with its dynamic and undistorted analogue sound is a great way to experience the incredible energy of The Beatles.
Cover
EXCELLENT+
An original 1st issue patents pending Garrod & Lofthouse cover dating to 1965. The front panel shows very little signs of handling. There is the odd light thumbnail and some minimal light wear to the bottom right corner but overall the panel is fresh and undamaged. The back panel is in superb condition showing no real signs of discolouration so commonly associated with this cover. It is evident that is has been stored in a smoke free environment since new. There is no writing or personlisation to any part of the cover and all flipbacks are strong and intact. The spine is in superb condition with the writing clearly visible. Most original Help! covers have not aged well, most are soiled and are severely discoloured, so they are becoming tough to find in this condition.
