Beatles LP Magical Mystery Tour German Pressing True Stereo 1971 Issue, EX Vinyl

NOTE: Run this copy through a VPI Machine.  It’s been in storage for a lot of years, and it will thank you.

Ever-elusive, seldom seen German pressing with exquisite sound quality and true stereo mixes!  “Penny Lane” and “Baby, You’re a Rich Man” appear here for the first and only time in true stereo.  Hardcore audiophiles understand that not even the Original Master Recordings by Mobile Fidelity had access to the true stereo mixes.  To my knowledge, this one issue from this one year is the only pressing to contain true stereo of all tracks.  (Did Japan?  Not that I’ve ever heard!)

Vinyl--- Such a strong VG++ that the difference is negligible.  Scrutinize under a bright light source, and you will find a few wisps in the grooves.  Gorgeous piece of vinyl.

Plates--- The proof-in-the-pudding catalogue numbers, SHZE 327 A-1 and SHZE 327 B-3.  No other German pressing had these plates, and no other German pressing is in true stereo.  These all-important numbers are pressed so closely to the label rims that they were not possible to photograph.  But they are clearly present in person.

Cover--- VG.  Lots of moderate shelfwear to all seams, although none are split.  Price sticker from a used record store still attached to front cover.

Labels---Very nice.  Both sides have very slight spindle marks, and the side 2 label has a small sticker stain to the right of the playhole.  Other than that, they look NM.

Inner Sleeve--- Original sleeve with plastic sheet lining from 1971 is present, NO splits.

Germany re-released Magical Mystery Tour just a few years later with the traditional cover, as well as with the more universal fake stereo mixes the rest of the world got.  This one is scarce, even inside Germany.  They don’t easily leave collectors’ hands. Better get it while you can.

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!) 

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
