READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles LP Sgt. Pepper 1967 MONO First Pressing STUNNING VINYL!
NOTE: This copy will definitely be your keeper. You’ll freak out when you see the vinyl condition. I know that when I bought it a few decades ago, I froke out.
Collectors are well aware that the MONO mix of Sgt. Pepper is in some places, very different to the more commonly-known stereo mix, and that The Beatles themselves preferred the MONO mix to the stereo mix.
Listen to the starkest difference, where the transition from “Good Morning, Good Morning” clumsily bleeds into the “Sgt. Pepper Reprise.” You hear the tape machine actually hiccup as it engages the play heads.
But the thing that threw me when I first heard it is that whereas there are four blank bars on the stereo version, followed by McCartney counting the track in, the MONO mix has six blank bars which contain mumbling.
The other notable difference is the nice swirling effect on the harmonies during the chorus of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” not present on the stereo mix. This makes for a more psychedelic listen, which I’m sure John loved.
Okay, no more spoilers. Win the LP and listen for the rest of them.
Vinyl--- EX/ NM. Blinding vinyl both sides. Just one or two very stray, very light angel hairs per side, which will require the use of a bare bulb to locate. Superb.
Plates--- G5/ F1. Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside makes this a Scranton pressing.
Cover--- Very nice. Structurally muscular strong. NO SEAM SPLITS. One of the only MONO covers I’ve ever seen that has almost no shelfwear to the top and bottom seams. Top seam has one very small area of damage.
Gatefold--- Bright and bold colors, no fading. However, there is some light foxing to the top edge.
Insert--- VG+ insert. Has some finger divots at the top. Very light wrinkle as well. Bottom left white “Printed in U.S.A. box lacks the stereo catalogue number, making this the MONO insert for this copy.
Labels--- NM/ NM. Both labels look 1967-brand new. NO SPINDLE MARKS. Side one label has the second track listed as, “A Little Help from My Friends.” Definitely first pressing labels.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG. Could use replacing. Bottom seam is split about five inches, general wrinkles and light dirtwear.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
