Beatles LP Sgt. Pepper First Pressing 1967 Tough Label Variation!

Upon first glance, you’re thinking you’ve seen this one all over the place.  Look again.  The variation that you’ve seen is the 1968/69 variation, with the small white Capitol logo at the 5 o’clock position, with the “Subsidiary of…” text.  That variation was pressed by Scranton, whereas this one, using the same font and text layout, was pressed by LA upon release.  See comparison photos and then check yours!

Vinyl--- Really nice!  Not NM, though.  Each side has a few light lines that you can’t feel with your fingertip.  90% shine!

Plates--- A12/ A10.  Definitely early plates.

Cover--- Solid VG.  Top seam has a 3 inch split, bottom seam has a 1 ½ inch split.  Spine has crackling.  Back slick missing some slick at the mouth.  See photos.  Moderate ringwear.  Gatefold has a center split, one inch.  Some aging as well.  You could definitely do with upgrading this cover if you want.

Insert--- Present and in VERY nice condition.

Labels--- Side 1 label, NM, Side 2 label VG++. Light spindle marks, otherwise great.  See comparison photos for the variation difference, and then check to see if you have one.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Gradient red inner sleeve is present, and solid.  NO SPLITS.  It does have some yellowing and fading.  One top corner was creased when inserted into the cover at the Capitol plant.  There is also a small tear to the top side.  See photo.  A white generic sleeve will be provided for shipping the LP, so as not to damage your original inner sleeve.

Since 1975, I’ve only seen maybe three or four of these.  There are not very many other variations that I would consider as scarce as this one.

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!) 

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
