Beatles MONO Revolver LP First Pressing Still in Shrink NM

(Note to newbies: “Still in shrink does not mean still sealed!  It means the album is opened, but the owner didn’t pull the shrink off the cover.)

This week’s auctions are from my A-List.  All Beatles LP’s listed will either be first or second pressings, all still in the shrink!  Be sure to look at them all.

Vinyl is beautiful on this one!  On Christmas morning, your Beatles collector will be struck with a strange look on their face.  They will walk like an Egyptian.  Around the Christmas tree.  Gawking like Gomer Pyle.  “Sur-PRISE, Sur-PRISE, Sur-PRISE!”  See if they don’t.

Cover--- A very well-preserved cover.  The black and white graphics which are extremely susceptible to dirtwear and ringwear has been almost completely spared.  The shrink at the top seam has been torn in small areas, so there has been some yellowing, due to exposure.  But not much.  The top left corner has light damage as well.  The mouth of the front cover has gotten a little dirty.  Bottom and spine are gorgeous, strong and new-looking.  Mono covers like this one are most definitely few and far between for “Revolver.”  There are two breathe holes on the front, two on the back.  No RIAA.

Inner Sleeve---The originally issued inner sleeve is present.  It’s the Capitol sleeve. All seams are steady-strong.  No splits.  Your “Revolver” LP will be shipped in a generic inner sleeve, so as not to damage your original Capitol sleeve during shipping.

Vinyl---Drop-dead gorgeous, gleaming blinding vinyl.  Looks stunning brand new.  IF you find any light scratches, you’ll find them under a direct bright and bare bulb, but not in normal room lighting.  Vinyl is stunning near mint.  Plates are G2/G4.

Mono Mix Differences---“Yellow Submarine” has Lennon preceding Ringo’s lines in the last verse.  In the mono mix, he starts one line earlier than on the stereo mix.  “Tomorrow Never Knows” has a completely different arrangement of sound effects throughout.  While the stereo mix has the sound effects coming in and fading out underneath Lennon’s entire vocal, the mono mix largely restricts them to the music between his vocals.  Also, the mono mix has a strange echo effect on the backward lead guitar that the stereo doesn’t.  Finally, when Lennon sings “That love is all, and love is everyone” on the stereo mix, a tone plays through the second half of that line.  In the mono version, that tone is mixed out.

Labels---Labels are perfect.  Not a single spindle mark. Scranton first pressing labels have songwriting credits listed as “Lennon-McCartney” with no first names. 

(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl.  However, I am happy to by request.  As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
