READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles Mystery Consigned 1975 Apple All Rights Blank Label! No “Her Majesty.” NM!
Get it? No “Her Majesty?” It’s a blank la…oh geez. Tough crowd tonight.
Last week, I sold one of two Apple titles from the 1975 “All Rights Reserved” run that were consignment pressings from Columbia, which was “Rubber Soul.” This is the other title, “The Beatles’ Story.” But this copy has the extra cool error of having a blank Side 4 label.
Blank labels are very cool from the perspective that they give you a glimpse inside the manufacturing process. You can now see what these labels looked like before the text was added. Imagine seeing these blank labels in large sheets, stamping out albums all day long.
Now imagine owning one.
Vinyl--- NM/NM. NM/NM. Never would I ever grade vinyl as in Mint condition. But in hushed tones in mixed company, I’d be tempted to do just that with this copy.
Plates--- A5/H9. G8/G8. Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.
Cover--- Nice VG. Structurally solid cover, NO SPLIT SEAMS. That includes the gatefold seam.
However; the entire cover has yellowed only very slightly, with moderate dirtwear near the mouth and spine. Light ringwear to the front top cover.
Still a nice cover.
Labels--- NM/NM. NM/NM. All four labels look brand new. NO SPINDLE MARKS. Not a single one among all four sides!
Capitol Inner Sleeves--- VG. Generic white inner sleeve with die-cut hole for the labels to show.
Jever notice how LA inner sleeves turn brown and brittle very easily? I don’t know why that is, but they do, and these are. Seams have splits about one inch each.
Generic inner sleeves will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: N/A.
LP’s look frikkin’ brand new!
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
