THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1963 UK '3rd' PRESS *MONO* LP
**RARE EARLY COPY**
Pressed in extremely small quantities, this pressing bears the first yellow & black label and arguably rarer than black & gold labelled copies.
This ultra-rare 1963 UK '3rd' MONO pressing is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1202
Both omit the 'Sold in UK..' & 'Recording First Published..' texts.
The labels include the small '33 1/3' figure in the 9 o'clock position.
The rims around each label begin 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..'
No tax/price code is visible on either label.
Housed a 'gold & black'/1st issue front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover.
The 'Angus McBean' credit is positioned in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with its original poly-lined 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper numbers: 2/GL & 1,2/GM
Some slight hole wear and spindle marks but no touch-up, writing or missing paper.
Visual: EXCELLENT MINUS
Both sides are clean, bright & glossy with no groove-whitening or dulling to either surface from improper long-term storage.
Each side displays a few small & light fingernail marks with the only significant mark being a single hairline stylus scratch on side 2.
Close & careful inspection directly under a halogen desk lamp reveals jst some additional inner-sleeve removal hairlines, but no further faults.
100% flat both sides on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT
Despite frequent play, all tracks on both sides play cleanly and clearly with no background crackle, groovewear distortion or any other significant audible wear.
Apart from slight peakwear on 'Twist & Shout' and a few light ticks between some tracks, there is little to fault.
There are no heavy clicks, jumps, repeats or any other major faults anywhere.
Cover: EXCELLENT MINUS
This early example is displays a clean & glossy front panels with just a few light spine & edge wrinkles but no marks or major wear.
There is some minor rubbing to the corners but all edges are clean with no flaking or missing laminate.
The rear panel has a single tiny mark and a written date (of purchase?), but no discolouration or missing paper.
Apart from some minor storagewear to the lower flipback, there is little else to fault.
Both seams are unsplit and the spine is clean, fully worded & undamaged.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean and undamaged with just some toning to the upper edge, but no splits, tears or writing.
