Description
Please Please Me, the first fantastic album by the Beatles! This is a first pressing, in mono, with the Dick James credits on the legendary gold label! A true piece of history. The stampers are:
Side 1: 2 GM (I haven't come across this one before) Side 2: 1 GA
The Record The record has quite few scratches and marks, and it's definitely not in mint condition! I have tried to capture the worst marks on the pics, so please take a look at these. I have played the record through and there are numerous noticeable pops, clicks and scratches. This is not a clean playing record! However, with the exception of track 1, side 1 (I Saw Her Standing There), there were no skips during my audio test. Note that track 1, side 1 does have several skips. The labels are complete, there is no writing and no sellotape marks, but they do show clear sign of use. The record still retains its glossy shine (see pics).
The Cover The cover has seen better days, but it is the correct Ernest J. Day Gold Cover for this record, with the Angus McBean credit in the far right bottom corner of the front cover. The top and bottom are taped, and the opening edge is very frayed, with a section missing on the rear. There is also some faded writing on the back cover, two small tears on the front (on John and George, see pics), and three on the back. The spine is intact but frayed, and not fully readable.
The Inner Sleeve I have replaced the Emitex inner with an identical original Emitex inner sleeve that is in much better condition.
Top condition copies of this record are now reaching four figures, so this is an opportunity to get a copy of a truly rare and desirable record without breaking the bank!
