Description

This is the genuine and rare "third pressing" of Please Please Me - identified by the ABSENCE of the words "Recording first published 1963" on the left of the spindle hole between the "XEX 421" "and the number "1".  (See blank space in the photo on the left.)

This "third press" LP, sometimes called the "transitional" pressing is rarer than the earliest black/gold pressings of Please Please me  (and that is according to the Beatles Museum, not according to me.)

Please/please me 1963 History
The first two pressings in March 1963 were on the black/gold label, then as record demand exploded in April 1963, production changed to the mass-produced yellow/black 4th  pressings of  Please please me that are usually seen on ebay.

In between, for only a short period of time came the 3rd pressing, soon terminated as mistakes had been made in the labelling.

* Front face in really striking excellent EX condition with bright vibrant colours and just a few small creases.  The rear is in VG++ condition, again nice and clean with solid edges, two of the flapbacks a little crinkled.

Inner Sleeve
* Lined Emitex sleeve
* Excellent EX condition
* Fully intact, no tears, no damage, no writing. Just a little yellowing with age around the edges.

VISUAL AND PLAY GRADINGS
Both sides of the vinyl have been not only visually graded but also every track has been play-graded on a quality deck.

Both sides have exceptional, excellent EX quality sound, with no skips, no jumps, no ticks or click or other strange noises - just the original raw MONO sound.
Visually, there is scuffing from the sleeve on both sides, there are two very short superficial scratches on side 2 visually VG+ , and some superfical markings on very good side 1.  None of these markings had any effect on the soundtrack at all, the only sound effects found were clicks produced by a scratch on the run-in groove, and that was before the start of the music, track 1/side1.
