THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1963 UK 1st GOLD LABEL MONO PRESSING LP
This true 1st mono pressing of this historic album dates from the week of release in March 1963 and is on the initial gold & black Parlophone label: PMC 1202
The publishing credits for tracks 1 & 2 on side 1 and 4 & 6 on side 2 are credited to 'Dick James Mus. Co.'
The side 2 label has a distinctive groove just inside its perimeter form being pressed on a older EMI press.
A 'ZT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 1 centre hole.
Housed in a correct, early front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right corner - beginning beneath the final 's' of Songs'.
Complete with an original 'Use Emitex..' poly-lined inner-sleeve.

As you can see this is a sparkling, clean & unblemished set with no wear or damage to any of the delicate gold print. There is a touch of wear around each centre hole but no scratches, spindle marks, writing or missing paper.
Visual: 1. VERY GOOD 2. EXCELLENT
Both playing surfaces are extremely bright & clean with all of thier 'as new' deep-gloss shine still intact. The only significant visual blemishes in strong daylight are on side 1. They are: a light and non-feelable 6cm surface scuff and a 5cm hairline scratch which is just feelable beneath my fingertips. Side 2 displays no such marks or wear in the same light. Close examination of both sides directly beneath my powerful and unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals little more than a sparkling rainbow shine and a few harmless wispy paper-type hairlines but no further marks or scratches at all. Both sides of this repectable, early copy lie 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping to either side.
Play: VERY GOOD
This copy has received a moderate amount of play on contemporary equipment but is without any major deterioration to the sound quality throughout. The usually worn 1st track plays without any groove-wear and despite some light background present on the quieter tracks, there is very little of any significant to fault. There are certainly no heavy clicks, pops, jumps or repeats anywhere, making this rare copy still an enjoyable listen nearly 50 years after release.

VERY GOOD
This correct and fully intact example displays general handling & storagewear commesurate with its 47 years, but no major faults. The front panel is bright & glossy with just some light bends towards the edges but no scratches or missing laminate. All corners display some wear and there is a 3cm split to the seam of the lower right one. Both opening edges too have light wear but no tear or major damage. The rear panel is overall clean with just some natural age-toning but free from any singificant marks or any writing or missing paper. All of the delacate flipbacks are intact with just a little wear to the lower one but no missing sections. there is some flaking to the laminate ont he upper & lower seams but the spine is fully worded and undamaged.

Some general storage and age-related marks but no wrinting, tears or splits.
