THE BEATLES

'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'

1963 UK CROSSOVER 1st/2nd PRESS GOLD/BLACK MONO LP

**DICK JAMES & NORTHERN SONGS** LABEL CREDITS

This rare crossover pressing occurred between 1st and 2nd pressings of this LP. This copy carries the incorrect 'Dick James..' publishing credits on label 1, and the correct 'Northern Songs' credits on label 2.
The groove on the side two label was a feature of most EMI pressings from the late '50's to early '60s and is not a contract pressing, just a characteristic of the older EMI pressing machines.

This rare CROSSOVER 1st/2nd pressing is on the UK black and gold Parlophone label PMC 1202
The labels carry the 'Dick James Mus. Co.' publishing credits for songs: 1 & 2 on side one, and 'Northern Songs': for 4 & 6 on side two.
Both labels carry omit the 'Sold in UK..' but carry 'Parlophone Co...' rims
The 'MT' tax/price code is visible on the side one label.
**The side 2 label only shows a distinctive groove 1cm from the edge.**
Housed in a correct front laminated, flipback 'Ernest J. Day..' cover, with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme right corner.
Complete with original 'Use Emitex' clear poly-lined inner-sleeve

Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper numbers: 1/T & 1/H

EXCELLENT PLUS

Disc

Visual: EXCELLENT

The surfaces are beautiful, clean and bright and retain all their deep gloss finish with no groove 'whiting' visible.
The heavy, thick vinyl shows just a few light fingernail scuffs and a small mark on 'Chains' but no deep scratches.
100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.

Audio: EXCELLENT PLUS

I have played this LP at volume and can report absolutely NO distortion from groovewear in either channel on any track.
There are a few minor 'ticks' during 'Chains' but virtually no noise at all between tracks. There are no jumps or repeats.
It is hard to fault this really is a great sounding copy which certainly would not disappoint.

Cover

VERY GOOD PLUS

This early and correct cover for this pressing displays light to moderate handling and storage wear.
The front panel is clean, flat and unscratched with just some storage. The opening edge is clean, sharp and unworn.
The rear is clean and white with some minor areas of discolouration but no marks or writing.
There is some light wear to the lower flipback but all other are in good shape and fully intact.
All seams are strong and unsplit and the spines is clean, clear and undamaged
