THE BEATLES
'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1963 UK 1st PRESS GOLD & BLACK MONO LP
**DICK JAMES & NORTHERN SONGS** LABEL CREDITS
This rare 'crossover' pressing occured for just a few weeks as the incorrect 1st pressing labels with 'Dick James' label publishing credits were changed to the correct 'Northern Songs'. The side two label also displays a distinctive groove familiar to most EMI pressings of the 1950's and early 1960's as a result of manufacture on the old style EMI presses. It is not a contract pressing.
This rare 1963 crossover first mono pressing is on the UK black and gold Parlophone label PMC 1202
The labels carry the 'Dick James Mus. Co.' publishing credits for songs: 1 & 2 on side one and 'Northern Songs' for 4 & 6 on side two.
Both labels carry omit the 'Sold in UK..' but carry 'Parlophone Co...' rims
The 'MT' tax/price code is visible on the side two label.
**The side 2 label shows a distinctive groove 1cm from the edge.**
Housed in a correct front laminated, flipback 'Ernest J. Day' cover, with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme right corner.
Complete with original poly-lined 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper numbers: 2/GM & 1/H
CONDITION
Disc Labels: EXCELLENT Visual: VERY GOOD PLUSVery heavy and thick vinyl with clean and bright surfaces retaining their bright deep gloss finishes with no heavy groove 'whitening'.
Both side display a few harmless light non-sounding 'fingernail' surface scuffs and the occasional light scratch, but nothing deep or 'feelable'.
100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
I have played this copy LOUDLY so I can give you an accurate audible report of this LP.
The sound is powerful and clean with only a hint of intermittant groove-wear audible only on some extreme loud peaks.
Audibly there is little else to fault apart from a few soft 'ticks' between some tracks.
There are NO loud clicks/pops, jumps or repeats anywhere.
Cover: VERY GOOD
A clean and strong cover displaying moderate storage and handling wear.
The front panel is clean but has some wear to the opening edge and a 2cm split to the lower right corner.
The rear panel is clean and white with some minor discolouration but no serious marks or any writing.
The spine is clean and without heavy creases with all text being undamaged and clearly readable.
All flipbacks are intact and undamaged, and the main seams are undamaged and unsplit.
Strict visual & audible gradings under intense direct light & at volume on high-end audio equipment
