Beatles Revolver Early Scranton Pressing Vinyl LP VG

Seventh studio album by the Beatles, accompanied by the double A-side single "Eleanor Rigby" / "Yellow Submarine". The album was the Beatles' final recording project before their retirement as live performers and marked the group's most overt use of studio technology to date, building on the advances of their late 1965 release Rubber Soul. It has since become regarded as one of the greatest and most innovative albums in the history of popular music, with recognition centered on its range of musical styles, diverse sounds and lyrical content. Of course, it peaked at #1 everywhere, except Canada and Norway. 
 The Beatles recorded Revolver after taking a three-month break at the start of 1966. Regarded by some commentators as the start of the group's psychedelic period, with the songs reflecting their interest in the drug LSD, Eastern philosophy, and the avant-garde, while addressing themes such as death and transcendence of material concerns. The album's release in the UK coincided with the Beatles' final concert tour and the controversy surrounding John Lennon's remark that the band had become "more popular than Jesus".
VG collectible, playable copy of the earliest Scranton pressing. Disc is in VG condition, but overall just G for the following reasons, which have been taken into account when pricing: Original inner sleeve missing. Disc was stored for years in a vinyl inner sleeve that protected the disc, but caused some (reparable) separation of jacket border; some wear on jacket over the past 60 years; has previous owner's label on front of jacket and a price sticker on back. Frozen in time!
Characteristics of this collectible release are:
•Sleeve spine says "THE BEATLES • REVOLVER - STEREOPHONIC - (Capitol logo) - ST 2576" •Sleeve border at front top says "File Under: The Beatles ST 2576" •First run label, crediting songs to "Lennon-McCartney" rather than "John Lennon-Paul McCartney" as on later pressings •Black rainbow label with "MFD by Capitol ..." rim text, but no reference to "Subsidiary of..." •Back cover says, "Prepared for release in the U.S.A. by Bill Miller" •Does NOT have a plant designator like 4, 6, 16 or 18 on back cover •Printed under the second paragraph on the bottom right back cover - "Made In U.S.A. Factories, Scranton, PA. - Los Angeles, Calif. - Jacksonville, Ill."
•Side 1 and Side 2 are identified simply as numerals ("1" and "2") off to the right of the labels •Stamped "IAM" inside a triangle in the run-outs
The runouts are very basic, as one would expect from a first pressing; all stamped; no other #s or characters on runouts other than those shown, which is uncommon:
