Description
The Beatles - Revolver
(Parlophone PMC 7009 UK LP 1966)
This is a UK original 1966 Mono LP pressing. This is the very first UK Mono pressing which has a different mix (Remix 11) of "Tomorrow Never Knows". This was deemed to be the incorrect mix of the track & was changed on all subsequent UK Mono pressings. So this is the only way to acquire this particular version. Also, this copy has the "Dr. Robert" track credit on the rear sleeve and on Side 2's label. This, again, was quickly changed to "Doctor Robert" on subsequent UK pressings.
Unfortunately this is a heavily played copy. It is playable but is best used as a collection filler until a better one comes along. However, it is a cheaper way to acquire this UK Beatles rarity.
It has a front laminated flipback sleeve which is printed by "Garrod & Lofthouse". It comes with its original company plain paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has yellow & black "Parlophone" labels. They have "The Gramophone Co. Ltd..."and "Sold in UK..." texts. The record has 1st press XEX 605-2 and XEX 606-1 matrix numbers. The mother stampers are GG 1 and GP 1 respectively.
This is a genuine very 1st UK Mono Pressing with "Remix 11" of "Tomorrow Never Knows", & the "Dr. Robert" credit on both the rear sleeve & on Side 2's label. As stated, these were quickly changed on all subsequent pressings. Therefore, these are not that common.
Sleeve: There is a 4 cm seam split at the top edge - at the sleeve opening. There is a 3 cm seam split at the centre of the bottom edge. There is some mild fading to the "white" of the sleeve. There are 4 creases at the spine. There is some mild to more moderate rubbing wear at the sleeve opening. There is some mild to more moderate ringwear on the rear sleeve. Good+ condition
Vinyl: This is a heavily played copy. There are considerable sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There are about 10-12 light surface or hairline marks. It does not jump or stick. Fair condition. The labels are in VG+ condition & show mild to more moderate spindle wear. The company paper inner sleeve is in VG condition. There is a 10 cm seam split at the centre of the bottom seam. Otherwise, there some light to mild ringwear & fading.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Good+ overall & VG in some places. There is some light, mild or more moderate crackle in the background. This is more noticeable in the quieter places. The music does still shine through though. There are no noticeable repetitive clicks or pops. It does not jump or stick anywhere.
