THE BEATLES - 'REVOLVER'
1966 UK *1st MONO* PRESSING* LP
This initial mono pressing, available for a few days only upon release in August 1966, contains an alternate version of the song 'Tomorrow Never Know' (otherwise known as 'remix 11'). This version features the sound effects dropped in different places in the track and also has a slightly longer fade-out with a piano not audible in the replaced 606-2 & 606-3 cuts. Despite 'Revolver being reissued in mono in the current 'Remasters' series, it does NOT have the 'remix 11' version of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' - it' can only and will ever be found here on this 1st vinyl pressing.
This copy of that same rare UK mono 1st pressing from 1966 is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 7009
Both include the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' rims.
The side 2 label bears the 'Dr. Robert' spelling & a 'KT' code.
Housed in the rarer front-laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover.
Complete with its plain white 'Patents Applied For' inner-sleeve.

Labels: VERY GOOD +
Clean & bright with some light hole wear and spindle marks but no major faults.
Visual: VERY GOOD -
Both surfaces are clean and are without any significant marks or wear in strong daylight. What there is consists only of some faint surface & handling marks together with some circumferal scratches on the side 1 run-out. There are no deep or 'feelable' marks anywhere. Close inspection directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals several light hairlines scratches and wispy paper-type hairlines - but again, nothing major. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Play: GOOD
This copy has been played many times but is without any major audible faults or wear. As usual with this LP, some background crackle is audible in the quieter passages but I did not hear any groove/play wear distortion. There are no heavy clicks or pops and certainly no jumps or repeats anywhere. Please bear in mind that this really only a copy to fill a gap in your collection until a better one comes along.
Cover
VERY GOOD +
A very respectable example which retains a clean and bright front panel with just light handling & storage wear but no yellowing or any significant wear. All corners are free of heavy bumps and both opening edges are clean, sharp & undamaged. The rear panel is clean & black with just a hint of ring-wear at the back of John's head but no further marks or any writing or missing paper. All flipbacks are fully intact and all seams are unstressed & unsplit. Both seams and the spine are smooth, unstressed & undamaged.
Inner-sleeve
VERY GOOD
Light handling wrinkles with the original retailer's stamp in the centre but no splits or tears.
- Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp to UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
- I carefully play every record I sell on an EMT 950 turntable at volume and list all visual and audible faults.
- All the photos in this listing have been taken by myself and are of the actual items for sale.
- All records are professionally & securely in custom-made record mailing boxes with the disc removed from the cover.
