Description
The Beatles "Rubber Soul" Loud Cut
This is the original first pressing from the first day of release - the THIRD DAY IN DECEMBER 1965
ALSO - First mother pressing -
loud cut side 1 is XEX579-1 1OD
When Rubber Soul went on sale on 3rd December 1965, Parlophone immediately discovered they had made a big mistake on the MONO album. The track mix chosen for side 1 did not play correctly on the cheap record players of the day (peculiar dynamics on loud sections). This became known as the LOUD CUT mix XEX579-1. This was instantly withdrawn, production was halted and it was replaced by a new mix 579-4.
This was soon followed by a change also to the mix on side 2 from XEX580-1 to XEX580-4.
-------------------------------
This rare LP from that very first day of sale has the original -1 mix on both sides of the LP.
LP
* Original loud cut matrix on side 1 XEX 579-1
* Plus original first matrix on side 2 XEX 580-1 ( some also call this loud cut)
* First mother on the loud cut side 1
*Mother/stampers 1OD and 3HA
* Label PMC1267 ie MONO.
* KT tax code on side 1
* Yellow/black Parlophone label.
* Play graded EXcellent
* Both sides individually graded both visually, and also play-graded, see report at bottom of page
Outer Cover
* EXcellent outer cover.
* Laminated original cover by Garrod and Lofthouse with the 3 external flapbacks completely undamaged and firmly stuck down.
* Completely intact with no damage, just some creases in the laminate mainly on the right hand side where the cover is stretched to put the record in and out. Very small tear of a few mm at the opening end at the bottom, easy not to notice this - I did not see it at first. The three edges are nice and intact with the spine particularly having very bold and clear writing.
* Rear of the cover slightly off-white from handling of this unlaminated side. A small name written faintly at the top, which you can only just manage to see in the photo.
Inner Sleeve
* Excellent original Emitex inner sleeve.
* Semi-opaque window appropriate to 1965 sales.
* In great condition, no tears, no writing, just a bit off-white with age. * No splits on the seams.
LP Visual and Play
Both sides have been played on a high quality desk with new stylus and individually rated both visually and for play quality.
Side 1 - Excellent in normal light, with just one very light surface mark visible, not detectable during play. In very strong light at an angle some light surface rubbing becomes visible. Overall visually EX-/VG++. Play was found to be completely flawless with no hops, no jumps, no sticks, no ticks. Played at volume some very light background noise can be detected in the quiet gaps between tracks and in the runout groove. Play graded EX+
Side 2 - Visually graded VG++ a few light superficial marks. Play graded EX- very similar to side 1 no hops, no jumps, no ticks, no clicks but when played at volume, in the quiet gaps between the tracks and in the runout groove there is some light background noise that sounds like dust.
