THE BEATLES - 'RUBBER SOUL'

1965 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING LP

We have just been commissioned to sell a large and important private collection of UK Beatles records. The majority of listings presented this week are from that collection, with more to follow over the coming weeks. The collection contains some of the rarest UK pressed discs which are unlikely to come onto the open market again in the forseeable future.

This superb UK 1st UK MONO pressing dates from the album's initial release in December 1965 and is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1267

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

A 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 1 centre hole.

Matrix numbers: XEX 579-1 & XEX 580-1

Stamper codes: 6/TG & 2/TR

Disc weight: 157g

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover .

Complete with its 'Use Emitex' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT

A superb clean & bright pair with just some minor wear to the side 1 centre hole and a handful of tiny spindle trails on 2.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Absolutely pristine & immaculate playing surfaces which are MINT and 'as new' in strong daylight - not a single mark or scratch anywhere. Even close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp finds me struggling to find even the faintest wispy paper hairline - it really is that good a condition copy which naturally lies 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT +

Clearly played carefully on top-quality equipment only, the sound quality throughout this copy is 1st class. My careful play-check at volume found no evidence of any groove/play wear whatsoever and certainly no clicks, pops or any other such interference. Even the most easily worn track - 'Michelle'- performed superbly with no break up or wear. In fact, apart from a hint of normal light background between tracks, you will find it hard to upgrade this one.

Cover

EXCELLENT +

A fine heavy and glossy example which retains an unscratched and rich front panel with only two small 'thumbnails' (on Ringo's face). There are tiny bruises to each corner and a trace of wear to the opening edges but no other significant wear to any area. The rear panel is pristine white with no yellowing or handling marks. All flipbacks are in perfect condition and the seams and the spine are all smooth, unstressed and completely undamaged.

Inner-sleeve

EXCELLENT

Clean & flat with slight age-toning and a few wrinkles from storage but no writing, tears or seam splits.
