One of the RAREST UK Beatles LP Jackets.

Contrary to normal practise at the time, EMI omitted the usual mono and stereo cover logos from this release.
However, an extremely limited number were produced with front black and silver stereo logos which were similar in size & type used on 'Revolver'.

Take a wander over on Popsike.com , and you will see (SEARCH: Silver Beatles Stereo) these LPs are VERY rare, the world is full of tons of Misaligned Apple Abbey Roads etc. But The Stereo Rubber Souls were a small sub market to begin within the 60s UK Yellow and Black pressing era. Very few sold, as most UK record buyers still preferred Mono by a wide margin. This jacket is the rarest variant of this title there is, and is highly sought after by collectors.

Unlike the other 60s jackets, EMI omitted the Stereo/ Mono listing in the top right corner when these jackets were designed. However this is one of a very small batch that came out with a “Stereo” designation in the top right corner. There are no known Mono designated jackets. Some folks guess that this pressing was an Export of some sort, but a close visual inspection gives no other clues that would lead me to believe that. I can say it may be the heaviest Parlophone pressing I have owned.

These jackets have sold for $315 to over $1,300 just 4 months ago. This  ultra rare sleeve. variant will only escalate in cost when the new Spizer book which should be the Definitive Collectors guide to the 60s UK pressings is released next year.

LP has been cleaned on a VPI Record Machine

Visually graded VG, Play grades Stronger VG, minor/occasional pops. This VERY heavy 60s Pressing, is similar to the deep groove jazz titles of the era in that it could take some wear and still play like a champ. No skips, sibilance or BS. I realize that many buyers afraid of the typical Ebay grading will pass, but I stake my name on my grading. Overall a very enjoyable experience, nothing to take away from the enjoyment of the LP.

The Record Label is VG+: Some spindle wear, no writing or tears.

Jacket: Strong VG. Lamination is still Intact on the front, there a few bends in the lamination on the front as is common for these EMI jackets or Clarifoil style Decca jackets. There are no major bends, tears, or writing on the jacket. There is corner wear on a few of the sides, and a 1.3 inch split on the bottom center seam (as I mentioned this an exceptionally heavy LP, even by 60s/ Parlophone standards) all other seams are intact. Corky  wrote his name but all the ink from his name on a small area on one corner of the jacket, but all the ink from his “Biro” as our friends in the UK refer to the pen was easily removed (one of the benefits of the UK style laminated cover style. This is only visable when raised at angle under bright lights. Again no ink remains.

The non laminated “flip back” is pretty clean, no writing. A minor bit of ring wear from 1130 to about 1215. The bottom flip of the flip back has a dog ear on the right side, and slight dog ear on the left side as well.

Inner Sleeve: VG+ overall.

This is overall while not Near Mint, a very nice, collectable and RARE Beatles pressing. Additionally it is a tube cut Stereo Original Parlophone and not surprisingly bests all US Vinyl pressings, and even the new 2009 digital remasters. A great chance to own an awesome Beatles collectable.

About my vinyl grading:

 I try to describe so you know EXACTLY what your getting. I find that any lps I buy, even the most “accurate” and “trustworthy” vinyl sellers on EBay  inflated  their record grade, by one full grade. The average seller is off 2 to 3 grades. With that in mind I want to be straight up so there is no disappointment when it comes time to play your newly purchased LP.

I take the LP out of the jacket and ship inside a clear LP sleeve.

I triple tape the boxes with 3M tape to ensure safe delivery.
