READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

I recently took in a large collection of Beatles albums, which range in condition from a nice VG to EX.  They feature labels from first pressing Capitol to Apple through to the purple Capitol label.  I tossed out all the garbage, and will be selling these copies interspersed with my regular inventory for anyone who would like to have great play-copies, but who generally can’t afford the rarer variations for sale.

The vinyl is collectable on these, although the covers may be a bit dirty, and/or split.  Here’s one that’s a great, solid play copy.

Another one of the cherries in this collection!

One of the seldomest-seen of the Record Club titles.  This copy is definitely not NM, but it’s also not a trashed copy by far.  It could easily serve as a keeper if you’re not patient enough to wait another decade for another copy to go up for sale.  That’s not an exaggeration.  Look at eBay’s Completed Listings, and see if you can find one.

Vinyl--- VG+/VG.  Side 1 has just a few very light scuffs that are not feelable with the fingertip.  Side 2 has many more.  Keep in mind that VG means “very good,” rather than trashed.  Side 1 retains about 90% original shine.  Side 2 retains about 80%.

Plates--- W1/W1.  No Capitol insignias are present.  However, the additional numeral “8” is present in the dead waxes on both sides, indicating that this disc is a Record Club issue.

Cover--- VG.  Front cover is stained across the top.  Does not transfer onto the back cover.  Light to moderate dirtwear, both sides.  Top seam at the mouth has a ½-inch split.  Bottom seam has a 2-inch split.  Spine shows some crackle.

Top left corner has the three horizontal black bars, top right corner, as well as the spine have the printed catalogue number that includes the inserted numeral “8.”  Back cover has the printed catalogue number that includes the inserted numeral “8” just above the “FDS” round emblem at the top right.  

All of the above must be present for the cover to be the Record Club-issued cover, which none of the commercially-released covers had.

Labels--- EX/EX.  Beautiful Record Club labels, with the printed catalogue number that includes the inserted numeral “8” on both sides.  No small Capitol logo appears at the bottom perimeters of Record Club issues.  Labels have light spindle marks only.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG. Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Sleeve presents as VG++, with some yellowing through the years.  But each seam has small center splits, none exceeding one inch in length.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: None.  Most Record Club covers were issued with the TIAA number 16.  This is the first cover of any title I’ve ever seen with no RIAA number.

Not kidding, if you’re stuck for a Christmas gift for your Beatles collector this year, or if you’ve been missing this title in your collection since forever, you should get this one.  The last time I saw one was the one I bought in 1982 at a Rockrave, for those who remember those.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
