Description
THE BEATLES - 'SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
1969 UK *STEREO* PRESSING LP
In the past later pressings of UK Beatles LPs have been unfairly judged as being inferior to 1st pressings.
However close attention to detail, and more importantly, sound quality shows that they sound as good as or in some cases, a little better than their overplayed, more expensive 1st pressing counterparts.
This particular disc was pressed in the UK in late 1969 on high quality vinyl and with the same original 'tube-cut' mixes/masters as 1st pressings. It boasts outstanding sound quality which later solid-state cuts never matched.
If you value sound quality and want to enjoy tube-cut UK Beatles discs at a fraction of the price of the originals, look no further. You will not be disappointed.
This superb sounding copy is on the '1-EMI Box' Parlophone label: PCS 7027
Both labels carry 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' rim texts.
The disc is housed in a fully laminated, wide inner-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed stereo cover.
Complete with its original pain white 'Patent Nos..' inner-sleeve & unused cut-out sheet.
Matrix numbers: YEX 637-1 & YEX 638-1 (the same as the 1967 1st pressing)
Stamper codes: 3/GOL & 4/GPH
Disc weight: 148g
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: NEAR MINT
Clean & unblemished with just a few tiny spindle trails to each centre hole.
Visual: NEAR MINT
Both surfaces appear are pristine & 'as new' at first glance in strong daylight. A single light fingernail scuff on the side 2 run-in is the disc's only visual blemish. There are no further marks or wear whatsoever beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.
Play: NEAR MINT
This extremely impressive sounding copy has received no more than a handful of extremely careful plays on top quality equipment and sounds 'as new' throughout with no traces of any audible faults or wear.
Cover
EXCELLENT
A clean & strong example with a vibrant & vivd front panel laminate which bears just a single 'thumbnail' wrinkle but no other significant signs of wear. There is some slight shelfwear bruising to the lower corners and a touch of wear the front leaf opening edges but no tears or feathering. Inside is immaculate and 'as new'. The rear panel is just a bright & glossy as the front with a touch of storagewear rubbing but the spine fully laminated & clearly worded and all seams are smooth, unstressed and unsplit.
Inner-sleeve
EXCELLENT
Clean & crisp with the unavoidable light disc impression but no splits, tears or writing.
