Description
An original 1967 1st press on Parlophone from THE FIRST WEEK!. Matrix 1/1.... which is about as early as I have EVER found on a top quality player...you are incredibly close to those initial Mono MASTERS..... Heavy slab of vinyl and comes housed in an original stereo cover with exposed flips. AND THIS IS THE WIDESPINE.....officialy and widely known to be the VERY 1st discontinued design....NO flame inner AND we have cut-outs ....AND AMAZING audio!
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In truly amazing condition and has only seen lightest use. To put this into some kind of context for you.....I have probably only every seen two or maybe three have a perfect sheen....i.e. almost zero! Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of slightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. I can confidently assure you --- the chance of finding a copy like this out on the open market,,,,, is close to ZERO. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. AN AMAZINGLY clean player -- it's easier finding hens teeth!!I'm not kidding this sort of preservation on this particular version of PEPPER is pretty close on IMPOSSIBLE to find.. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and very quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. A test track is WI64...I tend to find this track almost always the most difficult to find perfectly quiet....to put in context....on a stereo -- it almost NEVER plays perfectly quiet....BUT THIS EXAMPLE DOES IT...without breaking a sweat! THE Nice clean feed even into the fussy numbers. When you hear Pepper on a fantastically well preserved copy like this you can truly dig deep deep into the mix. And witness the smallest nuances. Reed instruments and brass take on a tremendous realism... you are getting an in-studio experience. Quite frankly unbelievable....you don't like to use term archive copy...because it sounds cold...But genuinely this really is a time-traveller copy like no other..This is the sort of copy you can buy having full confidence -- you are buying the best on the market --and the best you are likely ever to track down.. the lustre pouring off those surfaces is incredible. Listen to that run into ADITL..very very hard to find playing absolutely perfect. But- here-- YES! SLH? This is another one of those tracks where a lot of 1st issues struggle -- all I am detecting is a few slight crackles low in the signal path early in the track. To be frank 8 out of 10 copies do not play it this well. It's a very minor quibble -- the track still plays really nice. And more than acceptable. And with me and my critical hat on -- that's the only minor quibble I can pick out on what was is a top tier rendition...fro an exceptionally rare original variant.
Cover (Ex-) A beautifully preserved cover - not perfect...but I would argue VERY presentable...particularly for the stereo Wide Spine... Clean and flat front without creasing or surface wear. Slightest ding to one corner. Minimal edge wear. Spine is 90% intact with slight wear at ends...but better than most!. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Interior is perfect.
Inner (Vg/Vg-) Surfaces In good order. But sides have split and been taped up.
Cut-Outs (Ex)
