stereo matrix YEX 638-6-1-1 Side 2] General Description Whyever even experienced collectors still tend to mistake the date, hence "June 01st", for the initial release of the album - it's nothing but a myth. While it it is true that June 01, 1967, was both planned and announced as the official release date, E.M.I. re-decided in a short run to make it five days earlier. Simple reason for that is a BBC Broadcast on May 12, 1967, where they had sent extracts from the long expected album. Even in Germany it was published earlier, namely on May 30, on Odeon SMO 81 045 as well as HoerZu SHZE 401, in stereo only. The American release entered stores on June 02 - Capitol MAS 2653 (mono), and SHAS 2653 (stereo).
Anyhow, here we have one of the highly sought-after mono copies of famous Pepper album, as a worldwide first press from a time, where the general flavor long before had started to switch to "state-of-the-art" stereo, which is why the amount of records per pressing that featured the mono version was considerably limited compared to its stereo counterpart.
The "set" is "complete", thus you're bidding on Pepper with CutOut & the so-called ?psychodellic? inner sleeve, precisely as it was available in British stores at the time being. Remains to be added the good news that it all comes in an allover excellent thru near mint quality. Please see detailed gradings and photos for details. Aesthetics: I am a Collector, hence every record is stored (and will be sent) in a sophisticated way. Original cover, inner sleeve, prospective inserts, and/or whatever may come across, are stored separated. The vinyl sits in a neutral antistatic, padded inner sleeve, which is housed in a stable, neutral hard cover. For 1st pressings I use black, everything else goes to white ones. All together, it is protected by one (or more) transparent plastic sleeves. When sending out, this package goes to a brand-new professional record mailer. (“psychodellic”) Cut-Out NM Label Side A EX Label Side B EX Vinyl Side A NM Vinyl Side B NM Audio Grading Side A NM Side B NM I use a superb vinyl equipment with its heart being an Ortofan Diamond System and gold plated contacts all around Remarks Gatefold cover all around and clearly EX. Understandably, the "inside" might even earn a "Plus". Bright colors, shiny, glossy appearance. Spine, too, in great shape, certainly readable. However, an EX "only" cos there's an initial "B.H." on lower right corner of the cover's backside.
Labels, very unfortunately, come with initials "B.H." in their respective upper left corner, whereas the "rest", hence the labels, are free of stains, or spots, or wipes. Anyhow, an EX only.
The U.K. made dark-green cut-out comes in NM.
As for the vinyl, very few hairlines only, and you'll need strong, diffusing light to encounter. Grading is a clear NM.
Naturally most important: Audio sounds as vinyl looks like. Simply great, full, authentic - damn great mono experience. There's really nothing to complain. "In view and listen" of this beautiful disc, it's almost a desecration to mention that the record plays thru, doesn't skip, or jump, or even making strange noises. Forget about, straight verdict: NM.
