Following the 1989 release of Ultra Rare Trax Vols. 1 & 2 on CD (by The Swingin’ Pig label), these amazing Beatles tracks were quickly pressed and released on vinyl by at least two different companies. This 2 LP set from Drexel Records was the first one I saw (and purchased).
The CDs were for playing and listening, but this piece was strictly to have as an addition to my Beatles vinyl collection. And it’s been safely tucked away there ever since, so the vinyl and the cover are in beautiful Near Mint condition (again, my highest grade).
I’ve highlighted a few factory details in photos:
The front cover slick wasn’t adhered perfectly flat, there are some “ripples” - most noticeable in photo #7.
Note the small amount of white area around the labels in photos #3 and #6 - they weren’t accurately trimmed before the record pressing.
The labels incorrectly identify Sides Three, Four, Five and Six, rather than 1, 2, 3 & 4. But the song selections are correct, and identical to those listed on the back cover (photo#2). In other words, what the label calls Side Three is actually Side 1... Side Four is Side 2... etc.
The back cover has the statement “INDIVIDUAL SONG DESCRIPTIONS ENCLOSED.” Technically true, but what they enclosed was a photocopy of the back inserts of the two Swingin’ Pig CDs (final photo).
But that’s all part of the charm of vintage Beatles releases like this one!
