READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
Beatles VI LP 1983 Black Capitol Stereo Plates Plays MONO Error Pressing, NM!
As first reported in Perry Cox’ great price guides, when this run of Beatles VI was pressed, some copies were pressed with MONO plates, regardless the fact that the cover, labels and dead wax all say “Stereo.”
(Well, in the case of the dead wax, the catalogue number has the “ST” prefix, indicating stereo, rather than the “T” prefix for mono.)
Here’s your chance at one. This copy is a beautiful NM!
Vinyl--- NM/NM. Looks unplayed, but it isn’t, because I played it when I bought it, and my notes say this copy is definitely in MONO.
Plates--- G28/G28. Dead wax contains both “Specialty Records” insignia, as well as the Winchester one.
Cover--- EX. Cover looks almost new. 1983 covers had that really weird color scheme that made the Beatles’ background look like a cross between orange and sepia-tone. Back covers looked Xeroxed. That’s what this cover looks like.
Bottom corner on the back left has some water damage that didn’t translate to the front right bottom corner. See photo, which I’ve darkened, in order to show it.
NO SEAM SPLITS.
Labels--- NM/NM. Beautiful labels look 1983-brand new.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX. Capitol rice paper sleeve is present. NO SPLITS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: 12
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
