The Beatles - Yellow Submarine
(Apple PCS 7070 UK LP 1969)
This is a UK original Stereo LP pressing. It has a front laminated flipback sleeve which has red lines printed above & below the text on the rear sleeve. It comes complete with its original plain black "Apple" company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has dark green Apple labels. These have the "Sold in UK..." text on them. The matrix numbers (& mother stampers), are as follows{
Side 1: YEX 715-1 (MR 2)
Side 2: YEX 716-1 (GL 2)
A genuine 1969 UK original Stereo LP pressing. This copy has the red lines on the rear sleeve. It has the "Sold in UK..." text on the labels. This changed a very few months after this LP's release. It also has the earliest matrix numbers and mother stampers. These are not that common.
Gatefold Sleeve: There is a 2 cm seam split at the bottom edge - at the sleeve opening area. There is a 3.5 cm area of moderate rubbing wear in that sleeve opening area too. There is a 1 cm seam split at the top edge - at the sleeve opening area. There is some rubbing wear in that area too. There is mild to more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is a 1 cm area more moderate rubbing wear at the top of the spine. There is some more moderate rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges. There is some mild or very mild fading, & staining, on the "white" of the rear sleeve. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear. There is a very small 0.5 cm hairline tear at the spine. Overall, Good+ condition
Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. There is a light 6 cm surface hairline mark on Side 1. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or more moderate dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Very Good condition. The labels are in Very Good++ condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear. There is some very light foxing. This is only really noticeable on Side 2's label.
The company plain black "Apple" inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Good+ to Very Good overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in the background to a varying degree. This is obviously more noticeable in the quieter places. It never overpowers the music. There are no noticeable loud clicks or pops. There are a few areas of more moderate crackle. This doesn't last too long. This is mainly on Side 2.
This copy would definitely benefit from a professional deep groove clean. The crackle is mainly just due to microscopic deep down dirt in the grooves. This copy, I believe, would play Excellently after a professional clean. As it is, it is a bit of a crackly copy.
, & Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are no noticeable clicks or pops. Overall, a very decent audio copy.
I shall place the vinyl into a separate plain paper inner sleeve. This will protect the original inner sleeve from any damage during the shipping process.
