1969 UK 1st *STEREO* PRESSING* LP

This early & truely EXCELLENT 1969 1st UK stereo pressing is on the dark green Apple label: PCS 7070

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text but without a purchase tax code on either label.

As you can see in the 1st image right, there is a small 'i' in the word 'SUBMARINE', which I have never come across before. 

It is housed in the earliest-type front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse ' printed stereo cover with red lines on the rear panel but no printer's credit on the lower flipback.

Complete with its original matt black, die-cut inner-sleeve.

A rich and vibrant pair with nothing more than a small collection of spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Both playing surfaces are extremely clean & unworn and retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss finishes. Close inspection in strong daylight shows-up nothing more than some harmless and faint inner-sleeve removal marks on side 2 but no other scratches or visual blemishes anywhere. Careful examination directly beneath halogen desk lamp just highlights the aforementioned marks but reveals no addition marks or wear to either side, both of which lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing, with no traces of dishing or warping either side.

Play: EXCELLENT

This copy has received just a small amount of careful play and there is no significant deterioration to the sound quality throughout or any major faults. My careful play-check at volume detected a touch of light crackle on 'Only A Northern Song' & a little wear to a few loud peaks on the orchestral suite, but no other significant signs of wear. Both run-ins and all bands play with minimal interference with just an occasional light tick but certainly no heavy clicks, pops or any other such distraction on or between any track.

EXCELLENT

A superb clean & unworn example with a unscratched & undamaged front panel laminate where the only sign of wear is single 'thumbnail' wrinkle and a handful more along the lower edge. All corners are free form any heavy bumps or bruising and both opening edges are clean & undamaged. The rear panel is extremely white where it should be & completely unblemished with no marks, writing or missing paper anywhere. All flipbacks are clean & unworn and both seams and the spine are smooth, unstressed and completely undamaged.

Clean & flat with the only significant fault being a small left side seam split.
