The very early, 1st day issue sleeve, #0005435, is in superb condition. As well as its relatively low serial number, it is structurally sound and very clean. The front and back panels are wonderfully smooth and glossy, displaying some light pressure lines and one light crease each. The inside panels are smooth, glossy and only have a few wispy marks. Unusually, for these sleeves, there is no missing or flaking laminate along the spine and all text is perfectly legible. There are a few tiny laminate splits along the hinge but nothing more. The flipbacks are both tight and the top openings are sharp, with no tears or thumb creases. The creamy sleeve tone has begun to yellow slightly towards the edges but compared to the majority of original issues, this is still in excellent order, overall.
Both discs are in excellent condition, having retained most of their original glossy lustre, to produce almost silent run ins and no background noise. Audio quality is superb from all four sides, with the occasional mild pop, here and there but nothing too intrusive. There are some marks and a few needle lines to all sides.
All four labels are in excellent order, only displaying the usual collection of spindle trails. The side one label has a tiny blemish near the bottom, too dark for the camera to highlight but still there. As first issues they omit the, 'an EMI recording' text.
The original, single die cut, black inner sleeves are near perfect, both having no damage to the vulnerable hole perimeters and only displaying very mild creasing. One sleeve shows a tiny slit a its base, where the disc has begun to penetrate.
The 1st issue 'Lips' lyric poster (not shown but included) is near perfect.
The four photos are pristine and come with the rare spacer, which has no faults.
All in all, a fabulous package, in wonderful condition throughout and totally complete.
