READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles-Rel. LP 1988 Cloud Nine/Genesis Publications PROMO Packet, NM!
Many fans might remember when George was interviewed to promote his Cloud Nine LP on the radio show, “Rockline” in early 1988. This was a very special show, because if you were lucky enough to get in the queue, you could call and ask George a question. I was living in Philly when the show aired, and by the time I’d gotten through to Philly’s WMMR phone, they had already reached their max for callers. And so as a Hail Mary pass, I called information several times for phone numbers of other east coast affiliate radio stations, and eventually got the number for WPHD in Buffalo, NY and got a spot in their queue!
For those callers who had gotten through and were able to ask George their question, they were gifted with their choice of an autographed promo copy of the LP or CD of Cloud Nine, plus this PROMO kit for the soon-to-be-offered “Songs by George Harrison” book, released by Genesis Publications.
For those of us who had to sit on the phone all that time to eventually get hung up on when the show ended, we were gifted the same promo kit, minus George’s signature. That was me.
And this is that kit.
Vinyl--- NM/NM.
Because of the amount of photos required to show everything included, I decided to forego showing photos of the vinyl. Suffice it to say that it looks unplayed, because it is. I played a commercial copy and locked this one away.
Plates--- 1-25643-A SR1/ 1-25643-B SR4.
Both sides have the machine-stamped “SRC” logo. Side 1 has the hand-etched lotus flower, which not all copies have. Check yours.
Cover--- NM.
Beautiful, full 100% gloss both sides, NO SPLITS.
*Gold promo disclaimer at the top left front cover is still perfectly legible, no flaking off.
*Radio Station sticker NM.
*Hype sticker with song title NM.
Labels--- NM/NM.
Custom Inner Sleeve--- NM.
Flat as a board, razor-sharp edges, full gloss both sides, NO FINGER DIVOTS, NO SPLIT SEAMS. Just the lightest suggestion of record outdent.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Dark Horse custom inner sleeve en route.
Cloud Nine Tri-Fold PROMO Flyer--- NM.
Very beautiful and elegant flyer, never offered to the public.
Envelope--- VG.
The envelope arrived with some dirtwear and slight water damage to the top. I called the radio station to ask for a replacement, but they said that the entire box of these envelopes had been damaged like this.
Very fortunately, the envelopes were in a separate shipping box than the flyers were, and they had to be assembled, meaning that the flyers were unharmed en route.
Prospectus--- Gorgeous NM.
This is an extremely rare and important artifact. Intended only for members of the Genesis Publications elite, these Prospectus booklets were specially illustrated by the same illustrator who was consigned for the “Songs by George Harrison” volumes.
These illustrations are unavailable anywhere else!
Genesis Order Form--- NM.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
Check out my other auctions for more hard-to-find vinyl!
