Beatles-Related PROMO 45 1974 McCartney Walking in the Park with Eloise, NM!
I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…
Most collectors know that this song was written by Paul’s father, James McCartney, and that Paul McCartney and Wings recorded the track under the pseudonym, “The Country Hams,” to see if it would sell. It didn’t, making this Paul’s rarest sleeve, and one of his rarest promos.
(By the way, pull up on YouTube, the commercially-issued B-side, “Bridge on the River Suite.” A very nice blues impromptu instrumental with Paul on drums!)
Promo has the same song on both sides, MONO/STEREO.
Vinyl: EX/EX. So close to NM, but with just a few light visual distractions.
Labels: NM/NM. They look freshly-printed!
Sleeve: Strong VG+. Presents as Excellent, however; there is a moderate record outdent to each side. NO RINGWEAR OR DIRTWEAR AT ALL. See photos.
Side-loader, with the opening on the left side. NO SPLITS.
A generic white sleeve will be provided to protect your Picture Sleeve sleeve during shipping.
Plates: F1/F3. 99% of Beatles and related tests were performed by the Los Angeles plant, as was this copy. Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.
The initials, “WLY” appear, which we nearly always see on Winchester pressings. I guess our friend “Wally” did the test.
Side 1 dead wax has the “PRO 6993” catalogue number, which of course is not only the number for the promo copies, but it’s also the side containing the MONO mix. Just like the promo copies, the side 2 dead wax contains the catalogue number for the commercial stereo mix.
*Interesting footnote, this title was tested and promo’d just 6 titles before McCartney’s “Junior’s Farm,” which was catalogue numbered “PRO 6999.”
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.
