Description

This auction is for five 10", 78 records by Bessie Smith, Empress of the Blues.  

The records appear to be in excellent condition, and include paper sleeves. I found them in a hardcover portfolio which has protected them well over the years.

Four of the records are from Parlophone (R 2480 thru R 2483); the fifth one is from Columbia (37576).

Some of the musicians that back up Miss Smith are Fletcher Henderson, Coleman Hawkins, James P. Johnson, and others.
