Description
Big Brother and the Holding Company Cheap Thrills, Columbia KCS 970 Stereo (labels red with white lettering, "360 Sound"). Still in shrink with nearly full coverage.
CONDITION: Very nice copy, conservatively graded and based on listening to record in its entirety the evening of July 31, 2016 while preparing this listing, using my Hitachi HT45 turntable with an Audio Technica DC30 cartridge tracking at about 1.5 grams. The record has some light surface noise throughout that is most noticeable, of course, in the "empty" grooves between the tracks, plus some pops here and there, mostly within the first half of side two, but just enough to play it safe, err on the side of caution, and call this record GOOD++. Side one plays exceedingly well, as you will see for yourself and FLIP, especially if you've always preferred this side, as I have. No skips on either side. The labels are white lettering on red background, Columbia 360. While there's no writing on the labels, there are some spindle marks on each side, oddly enough more on the first side, which, theoretically, means that the original owner preferred the second side to the first (see above), the one with the hits. Hmmm. Nota bene: there is no time-of-issue Columbia Records inner sleeve. The record jacket is in fabulously near mint condition, largely because the shrink wrap that, amazingly enough for a disc approaching its 50th year, has covered the jacket in its entirety for its long life- provided one makes exception for the tear in the cellophane in the upper right hand corner. There are small corner "dings," but with only slight abrading to the cardboard at each corner. Spine is clean, with all text legible. BTW, the "E," in the upper right hand corner of the back cover was stamped by the retailer on the shrink. Many stores in the old days used this sort arrangement. The customer would refer to a table with the letters and the corresponding price. All of the above is shared as MY responsibility in our deal, and in the interest of full disclosure. In truth, this is an amazingly nice copy, especially when one considers its beautiful, iconic R. Crumb record jacket. For the aficionado, following are the matrix numbers:
